I use an app on my phone for my grocery shopping list, and it has a predictive typing feature.  When my app pulled up everything on my list with the first tap of a letter, I realized that there are a few things I’m always restocking my pantry with.  These are pantry staples I just couldn’t cook without.

20 Must-Have Pantry Staples - with these items in your kitchen and pantry you'll always have everything on-hand that you would need for most any recipe

Next time you head to the store, grab this list and take it with you.  Always having these pantry staples on hand can mean the difference between saving you time by being able to whip up a meal on the fly or having to run to the store for just one simple thing. Continue reading »

I received an Avalon Bay Air Fryer for the purpose of this review. This post was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own.

I kind of love fried foods.  Don’t you?  I’m not sure if it’s because I grew up in Maine where we always had plenty of potatoes which meant lots of homemade french fries, or what, but that crispy outside with the warm, soft inside – yeah.  It’s good.

I don’t always love the extra calories that come with frying, though.  Many of you may be in the same boat, especially since this time of year a lot of people are recommitting to their health and healthy eating.  Which may mean you’ve sworn off fries, chips, mozzarella sticks, fried fish, or a number of other things. This tortellini with asparagus in a light creamy lemon sauce recipe and shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BackToBalance #CollectiveBias

Did you indulge a little during the holidays this year?  I know I did.  Though maybe not as much as in holidays past, as everyone has been a little under the weather the past couple of weeks so I didn’t bake as much as I usually do.

Three Cheese Tortellini & Asparagus with a Light Creamy Lemon Sauce #BackToBalance

Every year I make resolutions along with the rest of the world.  But this year I’m less about making a resolution and more about putting balance into my life.  I have a lot of posts I plan to share with you this year on taking a lifestyle approach to a “new you”, everything from getting better sleep and making smarter food choices to how to get more active (without necessarily doing that “e” word that some of us dread). This post on saving on my vegetable soup recipe with the Walmart Savings Catcher is sponsored by Crowdtap. All thoughts and words are my own. #WMTSavingsCatcher

We’ve had a pretty serious cold snap here the last few days, and it’s been frequently accompanied by rain.  It’s the kind of weather that makes you want to curl up on the couch with a blanket and a bowl of something hot.  Something like vegetable soup.

Vegetable Soup Recipe #WMTSavingsCatcher

My husband is a fan of soups in general and requests them frequently.  The other day as I was heading out the door to pick up groceries, my husband suggested that I also get the things I’d need to make vegetable soup.  I took a mental inventory of what we already had in the pantry and fridge, then added the rest of the ingredients to the shopping app on my phone. This steak kabobs recipe post is sponsored by Kingsford and Walmart. All words and opinions are my own.

I love early fall.  The leaves turn, the weather cools off, and football season starts.  One of the best ways to combine all those things? Tailgating!

I’ve been grilling since high school pretty much anything I could throw over fire.  Pizza, burgers, corn.

Grilled Steak Kabobs & Steak Marinade Recipe

Most recently I’ve started making steak kabobs.  I like that you get both veggies and protein all in the same bite.  And they’re so easy to customize that your family and guests can choose their favorite ingredients and make them just to their liking. Continue reading »
