Last weekend was a time that our family had been highly anticipating for a long time.  We got up early Saturday morning, packed up the car, and drove the roughly two hour drive to Bowling Green for Ashley’s college graduation.

Unlimited Talk Text and Data Helped Me Keep the Family Updated #FamilyMobile #shop

By the time we met up with everyone else and seated ourselves, we made up quite the cheering section.  Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and friends.  We totaled roughly a dozen, and that wasn’t counting Austin who had unfortunately been scheduled to work that day and couldn’t find anyone to trade shifts. By now you likely know that for the last year or so my family has been using Walmart Family Mobile cell service.  We originally decided to try it out because of the low cost (which is now just $39.88 per month) for the unlimited talk, text and web.  With as much as we call and text back home, and with as much as I need to be connected on the go because of blogging, it just made financial sense.

Last fall I shared that before we left to visit my family in Maine, we added a line to our plan and surprised my Mom with a phone.  She already called often to talk to Bubbles, and she’s even learned to text since then.  The data plan isn’t something she really uses, and if you find yourself in the same boat there is now also the option to get unlimited talk and text – without the data – for only $29.88 per month.  I love when companies give customers exactly what they want. I have a confession.  A few years ago, I kind of laughed at people who bought Smart TVs.  I just didn’t get why you would need access to the internet from your television when you could go online from a laptop or even your phone.

A couple of years ago we decided we wanted to upgrade the flat screen in our living room and move the old one to the bedroom and the TV we ended up happening to be a Smart TV.  I say “happening” because it definitely was not a deciding factor, and I honestly never thought we’d use those features.  But then I realized that I could push a button and access things like Amazon, Hulu, even watch YouTube videos.  In beautiful high-def on a big screen.  And suddenly, I was sold.

If you would have asked me a few years ago if I would have been getting my house ready for spring and summer by using my cell phone, I would have probably laughed.  I’ve always been pretty attached to my phone, but back when they first became common, I never considered that at some point they’d basically be mini computers with lots of fun extras.  Fun extras like apps!

You know that there has been some serious basketball-watching going on here over the past few days.  We’ve been chewing our nails (well, at least I have) as we’ve watched our team progress through the last two rounds and are on pins and needles for their game tomorrow night.  Staying glued to the TV anytime the ball is bouncing is pretty much the preferred route to go.

Of course, before the whole thing started, we filled out our brackets online.  And, much like everyone else, promptly watched them fall to pieces in the first round thanks to a number of upsets.  It’s actually one of my favorite things about the tournament – at this point in the season, and with so much on the line, anything can happen.
