I participated in this campaign for One2One Network.  I received a free copy of the CD to facilitate my review.  By posting, I am eligible for incentives. All words and opinions are my own.

One of my favorite country groups from when I was in high school was the Dixie Chicks.  So when I heard that two of three Dixie Chicks members – sisters Emily Robinson and Martie Maguire – had just released their second album as members of Court Yard Hounds, I knew I wanted to give it a listen.  I had loved the addition of their violin and banjo playing and was hoping to hear more in this separate venture.

I was provided with an advanced review copy of The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec. All opinions are mine.

I’m not always the hugest fan of foreign films.  I like to read, I like to watch movies, but trying to read the screen while taking the movie in doesn’t exactly spell enjoyment.  But recently I heard about a new adventure movie titled The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec that made me re-think my foreign movie stance.

I read the following boilerplate for the film and with talk of deserts, mummies, and museums, I thought Adèle sounded a bit like a female Indiana Jones:

The year is 1912. This is the story of an intrepid young reporter Adèle Blanc-Sec and her quest for the power of life over death. Her journey would take her to distant lands to face many dangers beneath the sands. She will go to any lengths to achieve her aims, including sailing to Egypt to tackle mummies of all shapes and sizes. Meanwhile in Paris, a 136 million-year old pterodactyl egg on display in the natural history museum has mysteriously hatched, and the creature subjects the city to a reign of terror from the skies. But nothing fazes Adele Blanc-Sec, whose adventures include many more extraordinary surprises…

Thank you to Personalized Gifts for providing personalized items that inspired me to create these tips for decorating a toddler’s bedroom.

Recently we took Bubbles to a local carnival that was in town for the weekend.  The rides were all a bit old for her but we did let her play one of the kiddie games, the kind that you play until you win.  As her prize, she selected a princess poster for her room.

Honestly, I didn’t think we’d get to the poster-decorating stage for a few more years.  But it did make me realize that maybe it was time for Bubbles’ room to get a mini-makeover.  We’re taking down a few of the things that were a little more appropriate for a baby and adding a few elements more appropriate for a toddler.  As we’ve started going through the process, I’ve discovered some tips for a successful mini-makeover that I wanted to share.

I received Olay Regenerist products in order to facilitate my review, and Olay also is providing a gift pack for my readers.  All opinions and words are my own.

I’m getting old.

Phew.  Now that I got that out there, I feel a little bit better.  Oh, wait – no I don’t.

In the grand scheme of things, I realize that 35 is really not that old.  But I’m starting to notice tiny physical signs that I’m not 18 any more.  Like a random white hair growing where it doesn’t belong (and how does it get that long before you notice it?).  A random hair would be bad enough, but a white one?  What’s up with that?  And tiny, tiny lines starting to feather around the corners of my eyes thanks to many days spent squinting in the sun without sunglasses (I chose instead to use them as a headband).

These little nudges were a good wake-up call that it might be time to start focusing on skin care products with some anti-aging properties.  I’m certainly no stranger to skin care products in general.  I tend to try them as soon as I see them advertised.  But up until now I hadn’t paid much attention to amino peptides, Vitamin E, or serums.  But while I believe in growing old graciously, I’m not sure that I believe in growing old gracefully – not when technology has non-surgical options that grant visible results.

Thank you to Goosebery Patch for providing a copy of Game-Day Fan Fare so we could try some waffle recipes.  All thoughts and words are 100% my own.

I’m kind of in love with waffles lately.  Which some (my parents) might consider odd, because I didn’t care for waffles growing up.  I actually didn’t love pancakes all that much, to be honest.  If I had breakfast, I wanted eggs and toast, maybe some bacon.  But in college on Saturday mornings they had a waffle bar and I started to dip my toe into the world of waffles.  I wouldn’t say I was a groupie, but they were on my radar.

But for the last few months they’ve been on my mind more than ever.  So when I saw that they made waffle plates for my Griddler, I knew it was fate.  After weeks of being out of stock, I finally scored a set and have been a waffle-making machine over the last few days.
