Growing up crafts were one of my favorite things to do.  I still enjoy being up to my elbows in glue and paint when I have the chance, so I’m particularly excited that Bubbles is showing interest in crafts, as well.

A little while ago the folks at Michael’s asked if Bubbles and I would like to attend their fun annual Passport to Imagination series as their guest this summer.  This year Michael’s has partnered with seven of North America’s best museums to create a museum road trip.  Each day, kids will experience culture through crafts with projects inspired by world-class museum exhibits.

Butterfly Crafts at the Michaels Passport to Imagination Program

Last week was the kick-off week and each class – held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday – celebrated the Field Museum of Chicago.  Based on the projects I saw listed for the week, I decided to take Bubbles to the Friday class.  When she found out that we were going to be making butterflies and treefrogs she was super-excited. This review and DIY Oatmeal Face Mask Recipe was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Dawn. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.

Spa days might be one of my favorite luxuries in life. I love leaving feeling refreshed and pampered, with a massage, my nails done, and some kind of skin treatment. The only problem, is that those moments can really add up, cost-wise.

So when I can find opportunities to pamper myself at home, I’m all about it. Like this DIY Oatmeal Face Mask recipe. Super easy to make with just three ingredients, and extremely low-cost, too! Continue reading »

I’m working with Tilex® on a paid basis, but my opinions are my own.

Cleaning the bathroom is not most people’s favorite tasks. With these bathroom cleaning tips, though, hopefully the task will be a bit easier and go a bit faster!

5 Easy Bathroom Cleaning Tips #Tilex

Toss the Junk

Before you can get things really clean, you’ll want to declutter as much as possible. It’s easy for samples, bottles of nail polish, and the like to pile up. Be as ruthless as possible; if you haven’t used it in a month or two, it’s probably time for it to go (most cosmetics and bathroom products have a shelf-life, anyway). Continue reading »

This post on laundry tips has been sponsored by Global Influence. All words and opinions are my own.

When I was in middle school it always seemed like the one thing I wanted to wear was in the wash.  Being a hormonal preteen, I couldn’t understand what the big deal was about just doing the laundry already.  That is, until I was married and had a houseful of laundry of my own to stay on top of.

Laundry Tips and Time Savers

There are days I feel like some of that laundry could march itself into the washing machine unassisted.  My husband’s outdoors-work clothes, Bubbles’ did-you-eat-the-mac-and-cheese-or-bath-in-it clothes, even Austin’s workout clothes (if you thought teenage boys’ clothes smell bad, try them after two hours of lifting weights at the gym).  They also carry their own particular funk and cleaning challenge. I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This #NewFavorites DIY spa day shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for #CollectiveBias and its advertiser.

I was an RA (Resident Advisor) for three years during college.  One of my absolute favorite things to do was host DIY spa days (well, nights) for the girls on my floor.  I would order pizza, and then break out the nail polish, facial masks, foot soak, files, anything we needed for a night of pampering.

Tips for a DIY Spa Day #NewFavorites #shop

To this day, a mani-pedi is one of my absolute favorite ways to relax.  Making time for (and justifying the expense of) visiting a local just to get my nails painted isn’t something I do that often these days, but it doesn’t mean I want to give up the luxury of pretty nails.  So I’ve continued my tradition of DIY spa days in my own home.
