I’m working with Tilex® on a paid basis, but my opinions are my own.
Cleaning the bathroom is not most people’s favorite tasks. With these bathroom cleaning tips, though, hopefully the task will be a bit easier and go a bit faster!
Toss the Junk
Before you can get things really clean, you’ll want to declutter as much as possible. It’s easy for samples, bottles of nail polish, and the like to pile up. Be as ruthless as possible; if you haven’t used it in a month or two, it’s probably time for it to go (most cosmetics and bathroom products have a shelf-life, anyway).
Empty the Space
Once you’ve cleared the junk, pull everything else out, too. Throw rugs, tissue boxes and magazines, trash can. Take everything out of the shower, too, so that you have a bare surface to clean.
Surface Cleaning
Spray down all the surfaces with your favorite all-purpose cleaner and let it soak in for a few minutes. Once things have soaked, grab a sponge and give everything a good scrub. Now that the dust has settled
Scrub The Toilet
Flush the toilet then spray the inside of the bowl with cleanser and let set for 5-10 minutes. Use a toilet bowl brush and scrub away any buildup or ring stains, including under the rim. Flush and inspect; you may need to repeat the process.
Tackle The Shower
Take down the shower curtain and toss it in the washing machine on the gentle cycle (don’t put it in the dryer!). While it’s washing, spray down your shower with a cleanser specifically for mildew, even if you can’t see it (hint: 100% of homes in the US do have mold, so you probably do, too). Mold can appear as black stains in your grout or red stains on your shower curtain, and mildew often looks like discolored patches.
I like to use Tilex® Mold and Mildew Remover because it contains Clorox® Bleach which disinfects as it kills 99.9% of household mold and mildew on hard, nonporous surfaces. Regular soap and detergent may remove the appearance of the stains, but won’t actually kill mold. And with Tilex® Mold and Mildew Remover there is no scrubbing required – just spray it on, let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse off.
In addition to being easy to use and how well it deep-cleans, I love how shiny and sparkly the shower and tub look after cleaning with it. And because it can be used on so many surfaces – glazed ceramic tile, grout, tubs, fiberglass, glass shower doors, vinyl curtains, sinks and no-wax floors – I only need one product for most of my tasks. A multi-use, time-saving product is one of the best bathroom cleaning tips there is!
What are your best bathroom cleaning tips?

I need to get some of this. I hate to admit that I just wait for the cleaning lady to come and do her thing but the in between weeks I should really spray and wipe down!
I’m glad I came across this post today. I was just heading out to see what I could pick up to get rid of the scum in my bathtubs. It’s cleaning day around here. It’s raining out and there is nothing else to do, this must be done. Thanks again for sharing.
I have been using Tilex for my whole life. It definitley works!
De-cluttering is a big bathroom cleaning tip in my opinion! I recently cleaned out a bathroom closet that was overrun with stuff and it felt SO good to throw away things that were just taking up space.
I really need to toss the bathroom junk soon. Old makeup, past curing irons – I bet there’s a whole lot in the cupboards that I don’t need anymore
I need to clean my bathrooms this weekend! Thanks for the tips!
I loved these tips. Toss the junk. I wish I could just throw it all away. I have a personality flaw and that is I think I can reuse everything and that just simply is not true and my heart knows it just has not told my head. Great tips and gave me a direction. TY
I really loathe cleaning the bathroom, especially the tub and shower. Thank you for the awesome tips!
The bathroom is one of the most important places to keep clean, yet ours is so small it makes it very tough to do so. I enjoy anything that you spray and you do not have to scrub and scrub to see. I have always enjoyed Tilex.
Great tips! I love Tiles, it helps my bathroom cleaning routine so much.
Great tips! Thank you for sharing!
Great cleaning tips, this product definitely works great on showers!
There are times we just keep a bottle of shower spray hanging on the shower door – makes it easily accessible. We have a fabric shower curtain and liner in one bathroom, which makes for super easy cleaning.
I love to clean my home, and use Tilex in my bathroom too!
Fantastic tips. My house is for sale so I am constantly deep cleaning my bathrooms. Thank you for sharing these tips.
We’ve used Tilex and it works well. For the sink area I keep cleaning wipes there and try to wipe it before it gets gross.
My biggest faux-pas is that I won’t throw out any bottles because there is just a bit left… LOL. I love that Tilex Mildew Remover, though
I agree with all your tips! Definitely throw out junk and expired stuff first. Then clean from top to bottom.
Tilex is the ONLY cleaner we use on our tub! It’s amazing!
I have been trying to use natural cleaners lately, but there’s really nothing like Tilex to truly get the grime off. It really is a great product.
Cleaning the bathroom takes me a while since I want to clean all areas thoroughly. I’ll have to look for Tilex Mold and Mildew Remover in my area.
I like leaving the cleaning solution over the surface for a while and then clean. I find it cleans out the gunk much better.
I recently cleaned out all 3 of the bathrooms with all the junk. I figured if it hasn’t been touched in the year we’ve lived in this house then it isn’t needed. The bathrooms look so much nicer, neater, and organized now. I love it
I just cleaned out all of the samples, expired medications, and random junk out of my bathroom. Now it looks so much better. One of my cheats for the bathrooms are clorox wipes. I wipe down the counters everyday when I shower. That way when I do clean the bathroom, the counters just need a quick wipe and I can move on to other things.
These are good tips for cleaning the bathroom. I also like being able to spray and rinse instead of scrubbing.
