Meet Actress and Singer-Songwriter Emmy Rossum

Emmy Rossum's Sentimental Journey

You may know Emmy Rossum from the movies Mystic River and The Day After Tomorrow or from television’s Shameless which airs on Showtime.  And if you’re a Phantom fan, you probably saw her in the 2004 film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera, for which she received critical acclaim.  You may not know, however, that she also has a recording career as a singer-songwriter!

Growing up, I wasn’t what you would call a country music “fan”.  I made all the standard jokes (country music is an oxymoron, ha ha.  Wasn’t I witty?) and teased my friends who listened to the genre.  I was one of the few odd (wo)men out, as almost everyone I knew enjoyed at least a few country music artists.

I recently received a digital copy of Yanni’s new CD Truth of Touch to review.  Truth of Touch is Yanni’s first instrumental release of original compositions in over eight years.

I really didn’t have any prior experience with Yanni other than when I was hearing his name being tossed around as a great new instrumental musician.  I am sure that I must have heard a song or two of his, but none that I remember or could name.  His style of music is also not something that I would likely have spent too much time dwelling on as a junior high student (we were far too busy seeing how tall we could get our bangs and dressing in way too much neon).
