Did you indulge a little during the holidays this year?  I know I did.  Though maybe not as much as in holidays past, as everyone has been a little under the weather the past couple of weeks so I didn’t bake as much as I usually do.

Three Cheese Tortellini & Asparagus with a Light Creamy Lemon Sauce #BackToBalance

Every year I make resolutions along with the rest of the world.  But this year I’m less about making a resolution and more about putting balance into my life.  I have a lot of posts I plan to share with you this year on taking a lifestyle approach to a “new you”, everything from getting better sleep and making smarter food choices to how to get more active (without necessarily doing that “e” word that some of us dread). On Saturday I headed out to run a few errands.  While I had probably a dozen different places I needed to go after my second stop I headed back in the direction of home.  Note to self: shopping the Saturday before Christmas unless it’s really, absolutely necessary is a bad idea.

Thanks to Lunchbox for sponsoring this post. Words and recipe are my own.

Left with a few suddenly unscheduled hours on my hands I decided it was a good time to do a little holiday baking.  Earlier in December I put together my yearly gifts of food: trays, tins, and baskets filled with favorite treats and then delivered to our friends and family.  But I did still need a few sweets for our own family and a couple of things for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. This vanilla eggnog milkshake recipe is a partnered post with International Delight. All words, thoughts and recipes are my own.

If you’ve been around this week you may have heard that I’m kind of in a milkshake mood (and before you get all excited, Mom, that doesn’t mean I’m having cravings).  And while a good chocolate shake will always be top of my list, I do like to experiment with different flavor combinations, especially seasonal ones.  And what’s more seasonal right now than eggnog?

Very Vanilla Eggnog Milkshake Recipe

Growing up I wasn’t that much of an eggnog fan.  Or a fan at all to be more accurate.  And hubby said he didn’t like it much, either.  But as you age, your tastes change, and I thought it was time for us to give it another chance. Continue reading »

My family loves sandwiches, especially hot ones.  In fact, when we order from the local pizza place my husband almost always orders a hot sandwich instead of pizza.  And like most kids Bubbles loves a good grilled cheese.

Hot Italian Panini Recipe #PepItUp

A couple of years ago I splurged and bought a panini press.  I knew it would get lots of use – there’s just something about toasted bread filled with warm, melty cheese and other add-ins that can’t be beat.  And I was definitely right as we use it at least once a week. Continue reading »

This is a Fashionista Event and a promotional item was provided to me by Sweetworks in order to make my Candy Crunch Milkshake. Hosts for this event are Still Blonde after all these Years and ModlyChic.

Am I the only one that loves milkshakes more in winter than any other time of year?  It sounds a little counter-intuitive, I know, but it’s true.  But when the temperatures drop I start craving them.

Candy Crunch Milkshake Recipe - a cold, creamy treat with hints of chocolate-coated candies in each sip.

Most of the time my go-to choice is a good ol’ fashioned chocolate shake.  Sometimes I get a little crazy and go the cookies and cream route.  But when the generous folks at Sweetworks sent me a big box of chocolate and candy the other day, I started to get an idea. Continue reading »
