Easter Crafts via Pinterest

A quick look at my Pinterest boards and blog posts will tell you: I love holidays.  And so I get excited thinking about what crafts to make, recipes to cook, sweets to bake, etc. with each approaching holiday.  Because we have Easter just around the corner, this week Matter of Cents and I have choosen Easter Crafts as our weekly Pinterest Pin Me! theme.

I could easily have linked about 90 other things, and that’s what I love most about Pinterest.  It is a great repository for ideas of every nature; every time I visit the site, I find things I both want to recreate, and projects I want to tweak to my own tastes/needs.  Here are a few of my top picks.

You can find part 1 of my spring cleaning checklist here; it contains a checklist of needed supplies, as well as a general cleaning guide and tips.

Below is part 2 of the checklist; it breaks your spring cleaning routine down room by room.

Room by Room: Kitchen

  • Pull appliances away from the wall and clean under and behind each one.
  • Turn the power to the refrigerator/freezer off at the fuse box; purge the fridge and freezer of old, expired, or “will never use” items.  Defrost freezer and vacuum refrigerator coils.
  • Replace stove top drip trays.
  • Clean the microwave, including turntable.
  • Empty the crumbs from the toaster.
  • Reseal grout lines.

Our Pinterest theme this week was spring cleaning & organizing, which was perfect timing not only for the gorgeous weather we’re receiving (it’s supposed to be in the high 80s all this week and next.  In March.  In Kentucky.  I’m thrilled.) but because I’d been planning to start writing a cleaning and organizing series.

Spring Cleaning Supplies Checklist

Throughout the series we’ll also talk specific areas of your home (closets, pantry, that pesky junk drawer), must-have (and completely-love) products, storage, how to stay organized once you’re done, and other themes.  But I thought spring cleaning was a great topic to start with, so we’ll start with a spring cleaning checklist. Spring is definitely in the air – it’s been in the 70s and 80s this week and yesterday as Bubbles and I took a stroll around our neighborhood, we saw lots of trees and flowers blooming.

Organization Hacks

When the weather changes like this (even though it’s likely temporary), it gets me thinking about spring cleaning and getting organized. Which is why we’ve chosen spring cleaning and organization hacks as the theme of the weekly Pinterest meme that Matter of Cents and I co-host. Continue reading »

This week Matter of Cents and I have chosen Valentine’s Day projects and Valentines crafts as our theme.  I’m excited to give some of these a try (and to tuck some away for when Baby C. is a bit older and has classmates to which she can hand out cards).
