Gifts for the kitchen are some of my favorite gifts to receive.  Whether it’s appliances, gizmos, gadgets, new foods, cookbooks – it doesn’t matter.  If it’s related to cooking, I’m excited.

Here are a few of my favorite foodie gifts.

Stainless Steel Trivet Scale

Foodie Gifts: Brushed Stainless Steel Trivet Scale from Salter

I love kitchen scales but sometimes have a challenge with finding the space to store them.  You don’t have to worry about that, though, with this Brushed Stainless Steel Trivet Scale from Salter.  Not only does it only take up a tiny bit of space but it can also be used as a serving trivet for your table.  The front scale display slides into the base keeping it clean, protected, and out-of-the-way. A few weeks ago I suggested to my Mom that it would be great if they could come out this year for the holidays.  We bounced back and forth between Christmas and Thanksgiving, and due to work schedules we settled on Thanksgiving.  By choosing to come in November, it meant that my brother Jeff was also able to come, an extra treat!

DIY Guest Welcome Basket for Entertaining House Guests #HolidayMadeSimple

As soon as I knew they were coming, I started working on prepping the guest room.  Just because it was my family coming doesn’t mean I didn’t want to make their visit special for them.  So one of the items on my to-do list was to make a DIY guest welcome basket. Continue reading »

When I have the time, I love giving personalized, handmade, or DIY gifts for the holidays.  When I have the time being the key phrase there.  With as busy as it gets this time of year, I just don’t always get the chance.

This #SimplyHealthy DIY gratitude tree shop on teaching toddlers thankfulness has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

How do you teach toddlers to be thankful?  With Thanksgiving looming just days away, it’s a question that has been on my mind.  I want Bubbles to be able to put meaning to the holidays and not just look at them as a time that everyone gets together to eat.

Sam's Club Healthy Living Made Simple App

I recently was flipping through the Healthy Living Made Simple app on my iPhone (it’s also available for the iPad) and I came across an article on teaching toddlers thankfulness.  The app is a companion for the online magazine from Sam’s Club.  It had some good information – plus a nice reassurance that it’s completely normal for your toddlers to not always remember to say thank you before opening a gift or to grumbling about what they have versus what they want. This DIY coffee creamer bottle snowman post is sponsored by TapInfluence. All words and opinions are my own.

The other day I was pouring a little of the seasonal International Delight Sugar Cookie coffee creamer into my afternoon coffee, and I heard Bubbles singing in the other room.  As the words “Do you want to build a snowman?” drifted my way, I looked down at the coffee creamer bottle in my hand and realized – yes, yes I did.  I wanted to build a snowman.

DIY Marshmallow Dispenser: Coffee Creamer Bottle Snowman

The shape of a plastic coffee creamer bottle lends itself perfectly to being transformed into a snowman.  And because after you peel the label off they’re already kind of a milky-white color, there’s not a lot of work that needs to be done.  This is literally one of the easiest DIY projects you’ll ever try, but the results are down-right adorable.
