Eating fresh from the garden is one of my favorite ways to enjoy fruits and vegetables in the summer and fall. Grab a bowl and some kitchen shears, go out and harvest my own ingredients for a big green salad or roasted Parmesan green beans or homemade spaghetti sauce.
The garden is a great way to get kids excited about a wider variety of vegetables, too. If they have a hand in their care and harvest, they’re far more likely to want to try new things.
Green beans were always something both my husband and daughter said they didn’t like. But once Grampie invited Bubbles down to the garden to help pick the yellow and green string beans, I thought there was a chance she’d give them another try. Especially if I added a little Parmesan cheese – the same way I introduced her to my roasted Parmesan asparagus.
Roasted Parmesan Green Beans with Garlic
- 1 pound fresh green beans, washed and trimmed
- 2 T olive oil
- 2 T Parmesan cheese
- 2 T panko bread crumbs
- 1 T diced garlic
- Preheat oven to 400.
- Add green beans to a large bowl.
- Stir in olive oil, cheese, panko, and garlic. Toss to thoroughly coat.
- Spread on a baking sheet.
- Roast for 15-20 minutes, stirring after 10 minutes.
Not only does this recipe for Roasted Parmesan Green Beans taste great, but because you’ll only need five ingredients it’s something that can be made fairly quickly with normal pantry items. It’s also a relatively inexpensive side dish or snack – especially if your green beans came from your own garden.
You could even serve these Roasted Parmesan Green Beans up with a side of ranch dressing for the kiddos to dip into. They would make a great after school snack or something to get you through a long workday afternoon.
I make an oven roasted garlic green beans but I have never thought of trying panko breadcrumbs in the recipe. I can’t wait to try this recipe.
I hope you like the panko addition, Tracy!
Yum, I’m making these today for supper. Thanks!
These sound yummy! I love my green beans roasted with just a little oil and some garlic salt.
These look incredible! My mom has putting up a ton of beans this year. I’m going to share this with her so she can make some deliciousness without having to can them. Thanks for the awesome and easy recipe!
Parmesan cheese makes everything taste better! I bet even the kids will love these green beans! I can’t wait to try them – they look amazing!
Yes! Parm goes on everything I want my 6-year-old to eat. I hope your kiddos like them, too!
What a delicious idea!
These look great! Can’t wait to try this recipe. Unfortunately, we didn’t have any luck with beans in our garden this summer. Better luck next summer….in the meantime, off to the store I will go. found you on the Dishing it and digging it link party
Thank you Laura! Most of the garden here didn’t come through all that well do the dry weather – fortunately the beans made it!

This looks like my way of serving green beans. I don’t think that there could be many ways that would taste better. I like green beans and roasted Parmesan is such a great way to serve them. Thanks for sharing at Tasty Tuesdays Archives link party. Pinned.
That is such an easy dish to make and it must be super yummy as well with the parmesan and the garlic.
My daughter says everything is better with Parm – I tend to agree!
We do not have a garden this year, but we do have a wonderful farmer’s market nearby – I’ll be picking up some fresh beans and will be giving this one a try!
Love me some farmer’s market goodies, too! Glad you have a nice one.
Sounds really good! I love green beans with garlic, but would never have thought to add Panko. Thanks!
I tend to add panko to nearly everything – I’m a little panko-obsessed 😀
Wow! These sound amazing!
Green beans are a regular side item in our home! I usually add a little olive oil to canned green beans and let them cook until almost all the juice is gone. I can’t wait to try this new idea with fresh or frozen green beans!
I will have to try them that way sometime. Thanks Kristin!
I pinned your awesome Green Beans! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Full Plate Thursday. Have a great weekend and come back to see us real soon!
