As much as I love to organize and clean, there have always been a few tasks that were on my short list of “would rather not”. Some people hate dusting and laundry; I actually like those tasks. But vacuuming, while not an inherently hard task, has never been my favorite.
To start with, I’m short. Most vacuums I’ve owned have come up well past my waist, which makes them awkward to handle. And then I have to drag the thing around, trying to not knock stuff over, stopping to haul things out of the way so I can get under every surface and behind every nook.
But now – now I seriously love vacuuming. Like, I’ve vacuumed “just for fun” a couple of times, when it didn’t really even need it. And it’s all because of the new Dyson DC59 available at Best Buy.
The Dyson DC59 isn’t like any other vacuum I’ve ever seen. Honestly, it looks a little bit futuristic, like something you might see in a science fiction movie. And it’s purple – a very cool, shiny purple.
Why I Love It
There are so many things I love about the Dyson DC59. First, it’s incredibly light – 4.65 pounds, to be exact. I can zoom all around the house and I barely even notice it’s in my hand. Even better, I can stop and pick up our heavy area rugs to clean underneath, or move chairs or toys that Bubbles has dropped as landmines after my initial sweep. Then I can lift it above my head to clean along the tops of windowsills, curtains, and walls.
The Dyson DC59 provides 3 times the suction of any other cordless vacuum. That comes in quite handy for sucking up all those tiny, dried-up pieces of Play-Doh that inevitably ends up ground into the carpet under Bubbles’ table. There’s a Boost mode to give me extra power for really tough messes, too.
One thing I’ve always kind of hated about canisters on vacuums is emptying them. The contents always seemed to get everywhere and I would feel like I needed to vacuum again just to clean up. But this vacuum has an awesome one-touch empty button that can be used by either left- or right-handed users and I LOVE it.
With the included attachments, you can use the Dyson DC59 in a number of different ways. I love that I can remove the long tube and use the attachments directly with the hand-held portion. It’s great for cleaning the upholstery, cleaning around Bubbles’ car seat, and small spills.

Pretty awesome, huh? We’ve owned everything from inexpensive vacuums to a fairly high-end model, and this out performs all of them put together. Especially because with the new brush bar I can hit every flooring type in the house without having to stop.

This looks like it’s an awesome vacuum. I love that it’s cordless. My 16 mo old twins follow me around the house while I clean and I always worry about them getting tangled in cords!
I have this and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It makes vacuuming so easy. I just grab it and run through the house. the cordless Dyson is one of my very favorite cleaning tools. Any Dyson I have ever used is amazing and picks up so much yucky stuff.

I’d love a light, quiet vacuum like this. My 4 year old son is not a fan of loud noises so I only vacuum when he’s at school or asleep. This sounds like something he could handle me doing while he’s awake.
