Easter Crafts via Pinterest

A quick look at my Pinterest boards and blog posts will tell you: I love holidays.  And so I get excited thinking about what crafts to make, recipes to cook, sweets to bake, etc. with each approaching holiday.  Because we have Easter just around the corner, this week Matter of Cents and I have choosen Easter Crafts as our weekly Pinterest Pin Me! theme.

I could easily have linked about 90 other things, and that’s what I love most about Pinterest.  It is a great repository for ideas of every nature; every time I visit the site, I find things I both want to recreate, and projects I want to tweak to my own tastes/needs.  Here are a few of my top picks.

Did you know that last month Nutrisystem celebrated their 40th anniversary?  That’s a pretty amazing feat for any company.  What is even more amazing to me, though, is that over the last decade, Nutrisystem has helped people lose a collective 71 million pounds!  Holy smokes!  That’s enough sticks of butter to circle the world at the equator.

Janet Jackson for Nutrisystem

Since the introduction of Nutrisystem, they’ve continued to innovate and update in order to promote the greatest amount of success for those following the plan.  They’ve added a Men’s plan, Women’s plan, Nutrisystem Silver, the Select (fresh-frozen) meals, and most recently the new fresh-frozen Chef’s Table Collection and the SUCCESS plan.  There’s truly something for everyone.

Things are continuing to roll along well for me personally, too.  I’m doing better about remembering my protein shake (thanks to the comment from Emily last week about setting a reminder on my phone), it’s been in the 70s and 80s so the weather has been prime for lots of outdoor walking and adventures (like the zoo!), and I lost another 2 pounds!

Previously: -9 lbs

Week 10: -2 lbs

Total: – 11 lbs

That puts me over the 10 loss mark and also brings my total monthly loss of 5 pounds – just shy of my 7 pound goal, with two weeks left in the month.  I’m really confident I’ll meet my goal, and that’s exciting!

You can find part 1 of my spring cleaning checklist here; it contains a checklist of needed supplies, as well as a general cleaning guide and tips.

Below is part 2 of the checklist; it breaks your spring cleaning routine down room by room.

Room by Room: Kitchen

  • Pull appliances away from the wall and clean under and behind each one.
  • Turn the power to the refrigerator/freezer off at the fuse box; purge the fridge and freezer of old, expired, or “will never use” items.  Defrost freezer and vacuum refrigerator coils.
  • Replace stove top drip trays.
  • Clean the microwave, including turntable.
  • Empty the crumbs from the toaster.
  • Reseal grout lines.

Our Pinterest theme this week was spring cleaning & organizing, which was perfect timing not only for the gorgeous weather we’re receiving (it’s supposed to be in the high 80s all this week and next.  In March.  In Kentucky.  I’m thrilled.) but because I’d been planning to start writing a cleaning and organizing series.

Spring Cleaning Supplies Checklist

Throughout the series we’ll also talk specific areas of your home (closets, pantry, that pesky junk drawer), must-have (and completely-love) products, storage, how to stay organized once you’re done, and other themes.  But I thought spring cleaning was a great topic to start with, so we’ll start with a spring cleaning checklist. Pin Me! Pinterest Thursdays

Spring is definitely in the air – it’s been in the 70s and 80s this week and yesterday as Bubbles and I took a stroll around our neighborhood, we saw lots of trees and flowers blooming.

When the weather changes like this (even though it’s likely temporary), it gets me thinking about spring cleaning.  And that is the theme of the weekly Pinterest meme that Matter of Cents and I co-host.

Below are some of my favorite spring cleaning- and organization-related pins from Pinterest (all images link to their source on Pinterest).  And keep an eye out for my upcoming cleaning and organization series!
