Last year I attended the ABC Kids Expo here in Louisville and you may remember that I was introduced to a number of excellent companies, interesting products, and lovely people. I wrote about quite a few of those interactions, including the one I had with the folks at Pipila. Pipila, for those who may not have been readers at the time, is the world’s first portable UV pacifier sterilizer. It safely eliminates up to 99.9% of germs in just three minutes – and for busy parents, that three minute cycle is an important feature.
How does the Pipila UV pacifier sterilizer work?
Pipila uses ozone to sterilize. The science behind ozone is this: Ozone is a naturally occurring substance that is sometimes called “activated oxygen”. It is a very powerful oxidant because the gas molecule O3 is unstable which allows it to readily decay into O2. When it decays, it releases a single oxygen atom. When that atom comes into contact with a bacteria or a virus, the oxygen reacts with the cell membrane. The Pipila UV lamp provides a dual mechanism for sterilization. UV-C, also known as germicidal UV, creates chemical and biological reactions within microorganisms. This disturbs their ability to function and reproduce, thus killing them.

In addition to it’s 99.9% sterilization efficiency and speed, there are some additional features you might be interested in. The Pipila is also:
- Safe, hygienic, and environmentally friendly
- Portable – About the size of a baseball
- Requires just two AAA batteries
- Simple and safe to use
- Available in pink, blue, and lime

You can purchase a Pipila directly from their website or Amazon for $34.99. You can also head over here to win one in our Baby Birthday Bash! And be sure to like PipilaUSA on Facebook and follow them on Twitter to stay on top of announcements and promotions.
It’s amazing how there are so many convenient products out there to make Mom & Dad’s life easier
I really like that it’s portable enough to toss in the diaper bag!
I really want one of these… but we are trying to eliminate the need for a binky, so hopefully I won’t need this soon enough
