Disney's Movie "Planes

Disney’s Planes Sure to Be a Family Favorite

As you know we’re a very Disney family.  So every time there is an announcement for a new Disney movie we get a bit excited.  Finding out that Disney was making Planes was more than just a bit exciting.  We knew that if Cars and Cars 2 were any indicator, that Planes would knock our socks off.

This one is especially exciting for the whole family, as Austin (A2) really wants to train to be a pilot after graduation.  Planes will be right up his alley!  And hubby suggested that this could be a great first theater movie for Bubbles.  She adores Mater and Lightning McQueen and we think she’ll love these characters, too.

Oz the Great and Powerful

Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful Movie - Opens March 8th, 2013

There is so much exciting Oz the Great and Powerful news to share with you all.  As the movie’s March 8th release date draws closer it seems something fun and Oz-y is being announced or released almost every day.  Just in the past week there have been three new items – and I have them all for you.

First, Disney just announced that superstar Mariah Carey has recorded the song “Almost Home” for the movie.  You’ll have a chance to hear it before the movie, too; it’s going to be released as a single on February 19th.  “‘Almost Home’ has a message that works beautifully with the film,” Mariah Carey says of the song she co-wrote and co-produced  for Oz The Great and Powerful. “It’s a feel-good record; it gives you the feeling of reaching your home and being with people that you love.” Continue reading »

#SB47 Commercial Sneak Peek

We always watch the Big Game on Sunday and it’s usually because of the football with the commercials being an added bonus.  This year’s teams don’t really excite us much, so this Sunday will be mostly about the commercials, with the football a distant second.  Fortunately there will be two commercials highlighting Disney’s amazing upcoming movies!  I cannot wait to see them in their entirety  but in the meantime, I have a sneak peek of both to share with you!

The Lone Ranger

Super Bowl 2013 Commercial Sneak Peek

First up is the new 90 second spot for the Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films summer blockbuster “The Lone Ranger”.  It will air during the 2 p.m. EST pre-game show on CBS.  Along with the new trailer you’ll have the chance to win some great prizes in the “Who Will You Ride With on Game Day” Sweepstakes*.  Just watch the Sunday trailer, follow the @LoneRanger on Twitter, and answer the trivia questions about the spot using the hashtag #LONERANGER.  You could win SUBWAY® gift cards, Kawasaki helmets, and more! Star Wars: Episode VII Gets A Director

So, I was pretty excited when I heard that Disney was going to be releasing the newest installment of the Star Wars franchise.  I love Disney, I love Star Wars, so the movie was likely to be pretty spectacular.  However, I’m even more excited now.  It has been officially confirmed that J.J. Abrams is going to direct Star Wars: Episode VII.  J.J. Abrams is the brilliant mind that brought us the television series Lost which may have been one of the best in history (just sayin’).

J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars: Episode VII, the first of a new series of Star Wars films to come from Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy. Abrams will be directing and Academy Award-winning writer Michael Arndt will write the screenplay.

“It’s very exciting to have J.J. aboard leading the charge as we set off to make a new Star Wars movie,” said Kennedy. “J.J. is the perfect director to helm this. Beyond having such great instincts as a filmmaker, he has an intuitive understanding of this franchise. He understands the essence of the Star Wars experience, and will bring that talent to create an unforgettable motion picture.”

George Lucas went on to say “I’ve consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller. He’s an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn’t be in better hands.”

“To be a part of the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, to collaborate with Kathy Kennedy and this remarkable group of people, is an absolute honor,” J.J. Abrams said. “I may be even more grateful to George Lucas now than I was as a kid.”

J.J., his longtime producing partner Bryan Burk, and Bad Robot are on board to produce along with Kathleen Kennedy under the Disney | Lucasfilm banner.

Also consulting on the project are Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg. Kasdan has a long history with Lucasfilm, as screenwriter on The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Return of the Jedi. Kinberg was writer on Sherlock Holmes and Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Abrams and his production company Bad Robot have a proven track record of blockbuster movies that feature complex action, heartfelt drama, iconic heroes and fantastic production values with such credits as Star Trek, Super 8, Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, and this year’s Star Trek Into Darkness. Abrams has worked with Lucasfilm’s preeminent postproduction facilities, Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound, on all of the feature films he has directed, beginning with Mission: Impossible III. He also created or co-created such acclaimed television series as Felicity, Alias, Lost and Fringe.

Will you be seeing Star Wars: Episode VII opening weekend?
