PBS recently released “The Best of Caillou: Caillou’s Outdoor Adventure” on DVD. As we’re big Caillou fans in our house, we were pretty excited. A quick episode or two right before bedtime really helps Bubbles to wind down and get ready to fall asleep. And we’re obviously not alone in our love of the cute preschooler; over 4 million households tune in to watch each month!

The latest Caillou DVD has 100 minutes of programming and includes:
- 12 New-to-DVD Outdoor-Themed Adventures
- Printable Coloring Sheets
- Interactive Games
- Special Message to Parents
In these episodes Caillou, along with his friends and family, celebrate Valentine’s Day, learn about gardening, build a scarecrow, and much more. Even with as much of the show as we’ve watched on television, many of these episodes were new to us, which was fun. They definitely kept Bubbles’ (and our) attention.

The included games have you acting as a paleontologist discovering dinosaur fossils. Some of the tasks include locating fossils, sweeping away the dust, and sorting the fossils into the correct boxes. Bubbles already tries to commandeer my laptop and mouse for other things, so while the game is a bit young for her now, I know it won’t be long before she’ll be able to enjoy it.
We have utilized the coloring sheets, however; Bubbles enjoys coloring and really loves when she recognizes her favorite characters on the pages. It makes it nice to have a replenishable source, versus having to purchase a new coloring book each time she goes through the pages.
I definitely recommend this DVD to anyone with Caillou fans in your house. If you aren’t yet familiar with Caillou, then this is also a great opportunity for you to introduce your family to him and his many adventures.
