We rarely get to bed before midnight.  Well, that’s not exactly true.  I can’t recall the last time we went to bed before midnight.  It’s more accurate to say that we rarely get to bed before 1 a.m.  We’re both night owls and have a night owl toddler, so “going to bed early” doesn’t really happen around here.

(That’s really neither here nor there, but, you know, I like to be precise when I’m recounting an experience.)

So, anyway, it was late when we went to bed the other night.  I had barely closed my when I thought I heard a noise.  I laid there for a minute, trying to decide if I had heard something, or if my brain was playing tricks on me.  After hearing it again a couple of times I decided that I definitely was hearing something, I just wasn’t sure what. This is a partnered post. All words and opinions are my own.

I’m kind of a fan of getting a good deal on something especially when it doesn’t cost me anything extra.  That’s why I love the Kroger Fuel Points Program.  I get significant savings on my gas bill just by doing my regular grocery shopping.

The program works like this:

  1. Shop at Kroger.
  2. When you’re checking out, have the cashier scan your free Kroger Plus Card (like a loyalty card).  You can also scan it yourself if you use the self check-out.
  3. For every $1 that you spend on groceries, you receive one point.  Gift cards (with a few exclusions) give you 2 points per dollar.
  4. Once you’ve reached 100 Fuel Points you’ll receive 10 cents off per gallon at the Kroger fuel pump and at participating Shell stations.
  5. Ready to buy gas?  Simply scan your Plus Card at the pump and it will ask you if you’d like to use your discount.  Depending on how many Fuel Points you have, you can save up to $1 per gallon at a Kroger pump (10 cent max at a Shell station).

As part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias® I was able to use the new Answers at Walgreens program to find sleep solutions.  All words and opinions are mine.

I’ve always been a night owl, but it’s never kept me from sleeping before.  I’m not one of those people that can fall asleep while draped over the arm of a chair, and I can’t sleep in a moving vehicle, but when I laid my head down on a pillow, I could sleep.  It served me well when I was in college, when sleep was the last thing on my to-do list.  Between classes, being an RA, studying and a social life, who had time for sleep?  So I was thankful that when I did finally have a chance to close my eyes, I didn’t lie there looking at the ceiling for hours, and I didn’t wake til the alarm sounded.

Over the years, though, there has been a shift in my ability to get quality sleep.  Work stress would make me toss and turn, and then I was rarely able to sleep for more than an hour at a time while pregnant.  While I hoped it would resolve itself as Bubbles got older and we had a better nighttime routine, that hasn’t really been the case.  I still keep with the tradition of being able to fall asleep fairly easily, it’s the staying asleep that continues to be a problem.  I wake up to check if Bubbles has kicked her blankets off (again), from dreams, and because the neighbor kids seem to think that 3 a.m. is the perfect time to blare music from their car speakers.  By then the sun comes up and I can’t even think about falling back to sleep (another new development in the past few years).

Before moving here, I knew that Kentucky was known for a number of things.  Horses, the Kentucky Derby, Louisville Slugger baseball bats, and bluegrass, just to name a few.  One thing I did not know that Kentucky – and specifically the Louisville area – is known for is something that the residents here have named the “Ohio Valley Crud”.  It refers to the wonderful sinus and allergy issues that so many people here seem to have due to Louisville’s geographic location. This post brought to you by Arby’s. All words and opinions are 100% mine.

Growing up we didn’t have a lot of fast food locations from which to choose.  We basically had two, actually, and they were both about 20 minutes away.  When I was in junior high, occasionally we’d take a class trip to the roller rink.  It was usually to celebrate a holiday break or the end of the school year, and as a treat, the bus would stop at one of the fast food restaurants on the way home so we could have lunch.

A lot of times I’d just grab a drink – fast food can get a little tedious after awhile, especially when you only have two choices.  But then one day we noticed some construction while driving through town.  And then a few weeks later we were pleasantly surprised to find that an Arby’s had sprung up, finally giving us another choice.
