I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade Platinum Pacs. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

It’s kind of amazing how we get accustom to certain pieces of technology and then take them for granted.  Smartphones are everywhere now yet 20 years ago cell phones in general barely existed (try explaining to your tween that when you were a kid you had to actually go looking for the people you wanted to talk to).  Today if you want coffee you don’t have to brew an entire pot, you can simply pop in a single-serve portion of coffee or tea and have a cup in less than 30 seconds.

Another piece of technology that is fairly common in most households is a dishwasher.  While it may be commonplace it’s definitely not something I take for granted.  At one point when I was growing up our dishwasher broke and my parents never bothered to replace it.  I asked why once and my father responded that they had three of them – myself and my two brothers (ha ha, Dad).  Now that we’ve all moved out, they’ve of course had a new one installed.

Entertainment news is light this week, but here are a few movie clips and trailers for you!

The Lone Ranger

The Lone Ranger Movie Clips with Armie Hammer #LoneRanger

There are two cool videos now available that are part of a series of Lone Ranger featurettes.  The first is called “Spirit Platform” and the second is called “Cowboy Bootcamp”.  Both include interviews with mister Lone Ranger, Armie Hammer.  I anticipate more movie clips in the series before the July 3rd premier.  Maybe Johnny Depp or Helena Bonham Carter will be featured! Thank you to Ford for providing Warriors in Pink gear to help me honor my father on Father’s Day.

The other day I was involved in a conversation about Father’s Day gifts and what we thought was the best gift we’d given.  As I sat and tried to remember the things I’d given my Dad over the years, I realized I couldn’t recall many off the top of my head.  (Note to self: satisfy your curiosity and ask Mom next time I call home.)  I know that last year I got him a gift card to his favorite hardware store (it’s like candy land to him) and I’m sure at some point growing up I gave him a requisite tie or shirt, but other than that, I’m blank.  My husband would probably tell you it’s because I’m getting old and my memory isn’t what it was, but I’m thinking it might be because none of the gifts were memorable.

My successful search for affordable family mobile unlimited plans was compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client.

A few weeks ago I shared with you the news that Walmart now had family mobile unlimited plans for only $40 per month.  I had signed up for the service (you can see my whole signup experience here) and promised to come back and let you all know what our results were and if it’s something we recommended.  In short – very good and yes!

Bill Via Text for the Walmart Unlimited Family Mobile Plan #FamilyMobileSaves

First let’s talk about the savings.  I received my prorated bill (via text) a couple of days ago and went online to the account management website for more details. For 15 days of service my bill was $26.26, and that includes taxes.  As a reminder the plan includes unlimited talk, unlimited text, and unlimited web.  Compare that to my current service, where for the first line on my family mobile plan I’m paying, with taxes, $95.30.  That includes 550 shared minutes, a data plan that is NOT unlimited, and I think like 200 texts.  That’s more for one non-unlimited line than I would pay for two unlimited lines with Walmart. Women are notoriously bad at taking time for themselves.  We’re busy taking care of our families, running our households, working our jobs, and everything in between.  We certainly can’t take an hour to go get a massage because the world may stop turning while we’re gone.

6 Ways to Pamper Yourself in 15 Minutes or Less

It’s really important, however, that everyone regularly takes time for themselves to recharge a bit.  It’s true what they say: if you don’t take care of yourself first, you won’t be in the best shape to take care of anyone else.
