This #HungerHeroes shop on how to fight hunger has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

At one time or another, you have probably heard the statistics on hungry kids right here in our own backyards.  Sometimes those facts have a tendency to kind of pass by our ears, but not really sink in.  The truth of the matter is that one in five kids in the US are hungry.

Any time I hear those numbers, it makes me shake my head.  We live in an affluent country, how can that possibly be true?  But there is some significant poverty in the USA and some kids honestly do have to wonder where their next meal comes from.

This was reinforced to me awhile back.  Ashley just started her first teaching job and she has run into the reality of kids coming to class having not eaten that day – or the day before.  It’s heart-breaking and certainly adds extra challenges to the learning process.

Be a Hunger Hero with Tyson, KRAFT, and Capri-Sun #HungerHeroes

When I learned that Tyson and KRAFT were partnering for a Hunger Heroes campaign, I knew I wanted to participate.  Want to know how to fight hunger? Just head into Sam’s Club during the month  and purchase any – or all – of the following items: Tyson® Fully-Cooked Chicken Nuggets 5 lb. bag, a KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner 7.25 oz. 12-pack, or a Capri-Sun 6 oz. 40-pack. Each time you do, Tyson and KRAFT will make a food donation.

My Little Hunger Hero! #HungerHeroes

We shop at Sam’s Club regularly, anyway, so over the weekend we stopped in to shop for these and other items. Bubbles was very excited at the idea of being a Hunger Hero, so much so that she asked to wear her super hero cape. Sounded like a good plan to me! She had fun adding all the qualifying items – including some extra cases of Capri to our cart while whisking around as a super hero.

"Mighty Mini" Slides with Tyson Chicken Nuggets #HungerHeroes

When we returned home, I thought it would be fun to put together a “super” meal. Big sandwiches are often referred to as “heroes”, and I decided to make a smaller “Mighty Minis” version using the chicken nuggets – kind of like tiny chicken nugget sliders!

Fight Hunger When You Buy Tyson Chicken Nuggets at Sam's Club #HungerHeroes

  1. I think its great I can help drive home the message of childhood hunger while stocking up on some of my family’s faves. I will have to keep an eye out for this display the next time I am at Sam’s!

  2. I donate to the local food bank, I think it is so important to give back to the community and help people that need help. The Hunger Heroes program sounds really interesting. Thanks for sharing.
