I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for TruGreen. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
From a very young age the importance of curb appeal and landscape management were impressed upon me. The house I grew up in sits on a hill and the driveway wraps around it (up one side, down the other). The driveway isn’t quite a quarter-mile long, but it’s probably close. So between the area in front of the house between the driveways, the area on either side of the house, and the area behind it – we had a lot of lawn.
As soon as I was old enough to be trusted to drive the riding lawn mower without a) cutting off my foot and b) cutting too many corners, it was deemed my task to cut the grass on the weekends. As a middle school girl, it wasn’t exactly my idea of fun; nor was trimming the grass – with a spring-loaded hand trimmer! hello, blisters – around dozens of trees that lined part of our property.
Since then I have always been very aware at what value a well-maintained lawn can bring to a home. It certainly makes it look more inviting. When a sea of soft, lush green lies before you, you just want to kick off your shoes and run across it. In fact, more than half of Americans surveyed (53 percent) said “the quality of the homeowner’s lawn can tell you a lot about the quality of the home overall.”
When we moved into this house last year one of the largest things that was lacking was curb appeal. Much of it is stuff that we’ll be able to take care of ourselves this fall – changing out shrubs, planting flowers, things like that – but some of the issues could use the hand of a professional. Like the random patches where there’s no grass. And the fact that, you know, a lot of the grass is mixed with a very persistent weed of some type.
Hubby does a great job keeping everything neat and tidy but it’s pretty hard to quickly correct what is obviously a few years’ worth of oversight. For those real problem areas it would be great to call a TruGreen professional and have them come do the heavy lifting for us. TruGreen takes a scientific approach to your lawn, with specialized services designed to specifically meet your lawn’s needs at key stages throughout the year based on climate, grass type, soil condition and usage.
