Happy 4th of July! Hope your Independence Day was as fun-filled as ours.
Started off the morning attending a local parade. I hadn’t been to a small-town parade in over a decade, so it was definitely fun to check this one out. Bubbles hadn’t been to a parade like this before, either, and she was very excited to see what it was all about.
The parade participants waved, tossed candy, and handed out flags, watermelon slices, and bottled water. Bubbles was handed two different flags during the duration of the parade, and she proudly waved them as the groups went by.
There were firetrucks, military vehicles, go-carts, bands, local businesses, and much more to see. The go-carts and man on the triple-wheel unicycle were definitely some of our favorites.
Later that night, we regrouped at my parents’ house for a campfire and s’mores. I brought some of the s’mores-shaped marshmallows and was surprised that no one was familiar with them. They’re definitely on everyone’s shopping list now, though!
My brother Sam, sister-in-law Abby, and nephew Jayce were there too. The kids entertained themselves more with running around and playing, with only a quick pit-stop for sparklers at dusk.
It was so nice to be back in Maine, enjoying the cooler weather and clear skies. We’re looking forward to many more nights like this over the summer.
