Thank you to The Motherhood and JOHNSON’S for sponsoring this post on baby bath time.
I remember the very first time I gave Bubbles a bath after bringing her home from the hospital. I was in awe of the tiny little human that had been entrusted to me.
As Bubbles got older, she really grew to love bath time. And so did I – watching her have fun as she played and splashed and giggled made my heart happy. It was such a great bonding time for both of us.
Bubbles has always loved to splash. I will admit to more than one epic splash-fest that required the entire bathroom to be wiped down after we were done. But sometimes you just need to be a little crazy and have fun, right?
While some things (like splashing) have stayed the same, other parts of our bath time ritual has changed over the years. We’ve added fun bath time like those foam numbers and letters (great for practicing our counting and spelling), bath finger paint, toy boats, even a few water sprayers. Oh and let’s not forget the buckets and watering cans; Bubbles has had a ton of fun pouring from one container to another and making it “rain”.
I knew that Bubbles was having fun but I didn’t realize to the extent that she was learning during those moments. For example, splashing actually helps teach babies about cause and effect. And playing with bubbles helps babies develop hand-eye coordination and can help them understand that objects exist even when they can’t be seen. JOHNSON’S recently collected some of this information and created this easy-to-follow infographic.
The next time you and your little one have bath time, keep some of that information in mind. Think about ways you can help your child grown and develop by making bath time more #SoMuchMore. Play some music in the background, wash your baby with scented lotion, and give them new things to play with and experience are just a few suggestions.
