From the moment I first showed Bubbles the trailer for Planes: Fire & Rescue she has been beside herself with excitement waiting for it to come out. I told her that she, Mama, and Daddy would all go and see it together and now every time she sees the commercial or the trailer, she bounces around and exclaims “That’s the one we’re going to see in the movie theater!”. So it’s going to be a family date night. Or, more accurately, a family date afternoon.
My daytime date makeup is a little different than what I’d wear for a night on the town, but when I went looking through my makeup stash, I realized I really needed to replace quite a few things. And when I need cosmetics – or most anything, really – Walgreens is often the first place I stop.
There are so many things that I love about Walgreens that I almost feel like I should write them a love song. The variety, the prices and savings, the number and convenience of the locations. So of course I stopped by Walgreens the other day to collect a few things for our family daytime date.
I always look at the weekly flyer before going, usually on my Walgreens app (I just upgraded our phones the other day, and one of the first five apps I downloaded on the new phone was my Walgreens one). When I did I was pleased to find that I can now “clip” paperless coupons directly to the app. They are manufacturer’s eCoupons that can be “clipped” directly to your Balance Rewards account, and you can redeem by scanning your card (I use my virtual card on the app, but you could use your regular card, too).
It makes pairing sales with coupons so much easier, and I don’t have to worry about keeping track of those tiny little slips of paper and a very curious preschooler at the same time!
Daytime Date Makeup
My first stop was, of course, to the makeup area. I had “clipped” paperless coupons for foundation, mascara and nail polish. I found some of my favorite brands on sale for Buy One, Get One 50% off, so I combined those savings along with the coupons loaded in my app for some great deals. Like the $1/1 Maybelline Nail Polish coupon I had; the two polishes I purchased would normally have cost about $8 total, but with the paperless coupon and sale the price dropped to about $4.50.
I never go anywhere without mascara. And I love a good BB Cream, which does triple duty as a primer, light foundation, and SPF. While SPF is important all the time, as this is daytime date makeup you definitely want that SPF! So I add that in, along with a lighter shade of lip color and complimentary nail polish, and a dual-purpose eye liner and brow pencil for some definition.
I also picked up a few snacks that were on sale; fruit pouches for Bubbles (her fave), and a bit of candy for hubby and I. Heading towards the checkout a Planes kite caught my eye, and it was on summer clearance, so I snagged it. I thought it would help satiate Bubbles’ Planes craving until the movie releases later this week!
