We’re pretty selective about the television shows that Bubbles gets to watch. The shows don’t necessarily have to be educational – watching something purely for it’s entertainment value is okay now and then. But I also don’t want it to be something that’s going to teach her habits or concepts that are too old for her.
For example, in the mornings there are a couple of her favorite shows that run back-to-back. Following those two shows, however, is another show that we don’t prefer for her to watch. We usually watch with her, but occasionally we need to step away for a phone call or the laundry, and once in awhile we come back to find that her shows have ended and she’s watching the other show.
Kidoodle TV
Now with Kidoodle TV we don’t have to worry about any of those “oopsies” or catching part of something we’d rather not. You can create a Kidoodle TV account in just a couple of minutes. Simply enter your child’s name and customize their screen with an avatar and background color.
From there, choose the content age groups to which you would like your child to have access. The shows will auto-select based on those categories; you can then go through the list and make changes by turning certain shows off and on with a quick click. These are the shows that your child will then be able to see (or not see, as the case may be) from their own welcome screen.
Once on the welcome screen kids will see the shows available to them and can watch any episode. There must be hundreds of episodes available; there are 56 episodes of Paddington Bear alone. I love the mix of newer and classic shows Kidoodle TV offers. Some of Bubbles’ current favorites include Zoo Babies, Pound Puppies, and Chuck & Friends.
Right now kids can stream shows on your PC or on your iPad or iPhone. Additional apps and viewing options are coming soon, as are new shows. And through December 31st watching is free.

What a great way to have some more control over what kids are watching. The interface looks really easy to use too.
My girls both love Kidoodle. I like knowing that they are watching something age appropriate that they will enjoy.

What a great way to monitor the shows that can be played and how long they watch them. This is fantastic.
Love that each child can create their profile! My boys have started to grow apart in their viewing choices so letting them have their own profiles works great!

I LOVE This idea. DS is getting old enough to figure out how to change the programs in the iPad, There are times when he is not watching the same show that I set up for him when I come back into the room. It would be great to limit his access a bit more.
