Thank you to Ford for providing Warriors in Pink gear to help me honor my father on Father’s Day.

The other day I was involved in a conversation about Father’s Day gifts and what we thought was the best gift we’d given.  As I sat and tried to remember the things I’d given my Dad over the years, I realized I couldn’t recall many off the top of my head.  (Note to self: satisfy your curiosity and ask Mom next time I call home.)  I know that last year I got him a gift card to his favorite hardware store (it’s like candy land to him) and I’m sure at some point growing up I gave him a requisite tie or shirt, but other than that, I’m blank.  My husband would probably tell you it’s because I’m getting old and my memory isn’t what it was, but I’m thinking it might be because none of the gifts were memorable.

Are you in the same boat?  Or maybe you’re one of those (awesome) people that never buy a gift without putting inordinate amounts of thought into the purchase.  Whichever category you fall into, I have a suggestion for you this year.  Consider buying the man you want to honor a gift that also honors those both whom have struggled with and are currently battling through breast cancer.  A gift that gives to others is definitely more memorable than a hardware store gift card.

Cancer is very personal to the men in my life: both my father and my husband at young ages lost their moms to cancer.  So giving them Ford Cares Warriors in Pink gear for Father’s Day makes sense to me.  It allows me to show them I care for them by presenting them with a stylish gift, and then they can wear it proudly knowing that the purchase is providing dollars to various cancer groups. In fact since the Warriors in Pink line launched in 2006, the Ford Motor Company has generated $4,756,795 in donations.

I love that the site shows you exactly how much money from each purchase will be going towards donations.  And it’s more than just 5 or 6 items like some charity sites offer; Warriors in Pink has dozens of gifts to choose from for both men and women.  For Father’s Day my top two favorites were the Brave & Bold Tee and the Warrior Warm-Up and Ford sent us the Warrior Warm-Up to check out.

The Warrior Warm-Up is a great lightweight pullover which makes it perfect for summer nights when there’s a breeze or just a touch of chill in the air.  It also has a cool logo on the sleeve (as well as inside the jacket) that looks a little like wings.  When you look closer, however, the wings have faces that are staring at each other.  They are called “The Warriors” and they represent the powerful and the courageous who fight against breast cancer.  I can’t wait to hear how my Dad likes it.

Which Warriors in Pink item would you want to own?
