I’ve always wanted to be one of those people who has their family photo for holiday cards taken in June; the cards ordered by September; and addressed, stamped, and ready to mail by October 31st. It greatly appeals to my organizational side. Sadly, I have not yet become one of these people.
A big part of it is that Bubbles is still very young, and so she grows and changes quickly. If we took our family photo in June, by the time the cards went out, she’d barely be recognizable. Maybe in a few years when her growing levels off some, we can be that family.
Until then, we usually have our photos taken the week of Thanksgiving. If this sounds like a busy time to take them – you’re right! The word ideal doesn’t exactly come to mind. But when you’re trying to organize the schedules of a (very) busy college student that lives nearly 2 hours away, a busy high school teenager (who of course has lots of better things to do than have a family picture taken), and a toddler, “ideal” doesn’t get much play.
So next week we will be heading out to have our photos taken, and then we’ll be ready to order our Christmas cards. I’m excited because there are a lot of great ones to choose from this year! Especially with the 2012 Tiny Prints collection. We received our catalog in the mail a few days ago and I took 5 minutes to flip through it while Bubbles was napping. There are a lot of designs to choose from – everything from bright holiday colors to more traditional ones – and four or five of them caught my eye right away. They even have cards that let you show off your furbabies (my Aunt-In-Law would love those, I know).
Tiny Prints also has new paper available this year! It’s called Premium DoubleThick Matte Paper and it’s their most luxurious cardstock yet! Considering all that cards go through to get to their final destination, and all they go through once they’ve arrived (dogs chewing, kids pulling them off the display, spilled drinks), I think some extra-thick cardstock is definitely in order for our cards this year.
Be sure to check out their special offers page to get the best deal possible. Right now, for example, they have free shipping (for a limited time) as well as the opportunity to get three free cards as a sample. Then you’ll know for sure exactly which card is perfect for you and your photo!
I’m also excited to be able to give away a $50 credit for Tiny Prints so that one lucky winner can send out warm wishes to friends and family this holiday season. To enter, simply fill out the Rafflecopter form below. Giveaway closed.
