Bubbles has gotten to the point that unless she’s eating on her own, it’s hard to engage her during mealtimes. She wants to be a big girl and feed herself all the time, which is, of course, great. It’s exciting to see her learn and I’m proud when she asserts her independence (yes, I know – I might not be saying the same thing when she gets a little older and can say a few more words!). That independence, though, usually comes at the price of cleaning mashed potatoes out of her belly button and nose.
The other piece to her desire to self-feed is that my husband is constantly worrying that she’s going to jab herself in the back of the throat or poke her eye out with a spoon. She’s much more coordinated than that – most of what she spoons does actually make it straight into her mouth – but, you know. I guess it could happen?
I was excited, then, when we were offered the opportunity to review an oogaa mealtime set. The folks at oogaa are driven by a passionate commitment to make fun, safe, innovative, and sustainable products for your baby and young child. They have a mission statement that sums it up really well.
Our mission is to eliminate unsafe products in your home by providing durable, affordable wares that surpass the strictest health criteria while reducing the amount we throw away. We are devoted to the goal that our products will impact your child’s well-being in only positive ways. That means using the safest, most environmentally stable materials to fire the imagination with the bright colours and playful designs that babies love.
Oogaa makes their mealtime sets out of silicone, which does not support the growth of fungus, mold, or bacteria. They are also odorless and tasteless and are microwave-, freezer-, and dishwasher-safe. Plus they’re heat resistant!

Bubbles felt that she needed BOTH spoons
We really love our mealtime set. The spoons are in the shape of a train and a plane, which would be especially entertaining for the younger set. And because the silicone is so flexible, my husband is less concerned that Bubbles will end up with an eye patch or needing to visit a throat specialist. The bowl is also easy for her to scoop food from; not too shallow, not too deep (though deep enough that when she tips it up, the food slides to, but not usually over, the edge).
The bowls and spoons clean very easily, as well. We really have put them through their paces and even spaghetti sauce which tends to stain wiped away with warm, soapy water. They honestly look as new today as the day they arrived. I absolutely would recommend these for your own family or as a baby shower gift. The bowls come in four colors – blue, green, pink, and purple – so you’re sure to find one your child will love. And if you have multiples at home, each child could be assigned their own color to avoid the “she’s eating out of my bowl!” argument.
You can purchase oogaa mealtime sets directly from their website (free shipping on orders over $50) or from Amazon (free Prime and Super Saver shipping).
I received an oogaa mealtime set in order to facilitate my review. No additional compensation was received and all opinions, as always, are 100% that of myself and my family.
These look way fun! I bet my kiddo would love these
Those are SUPER cool!! I will have to get some for my nieces and nephews!
This mealtime set looks TOO cute! Great review!
My girls would totally love to eat with those. How fun!
Those are really cute! My son doesn’t know how to feed himself with a spoon and bowl yet. The bowl usually ends up on the ground while he chews on an empty spoon.
We’re working on it!
