Welcome to Views From the Ville!

Meet the Family of Views From the Ville - It's me, Liza! Taken when my husband & I celebrated Valentine's Day at Animal Kingdom one year

My name is Liza and I am both a wife and the mom of a kindergartner (Bubbles), a stepson (Austin) who recently finished his Army National Guard basic training, and a stepdaughter (Ashley) who is starting her third year of teaching in Indianapolis.  You can reach me by emailing info@viewsfromtheville.com

Meet the Family of Views From the Ville - Bubbles, our 5-year-old preschooler

Bubbles is my little fun-loving fashionista.  She’s a typical 5-year-old that loves anything related to Disney (everything from Planes and Cars to Frozen, and everything in between), Nick Jr., My Little Ponies, coloring, LEGOs, blowing bubbles, and playing outside.  I can’t believe she started kindergarten in August!  She’s been asking me to let her start her own YouTube channel, so you may see more videos of her soon.

Meet the Family of Views From the Ville - Austin flying a plane over Louisville

20-year-old Austin loves pick-up basketball games, watching basketball and football both live and on TV, and playing video games.  He also loves flying; after riding in a bi-plane and then taking a couple of lessons, he’s thinking of becoming a pilot.  His favorite “thing” right now? Jumping from planes!  Definitely more brave than I am.

Meet the Family of Views From the Ville - Ashley & Austin at the St. Baldrick's Head-Shaving Event

As a third-year teacher Ashley (24) doesn’t have a ton of free time but what time she does have is spent reading, making music, and doing AcroYoga with her boyfriend.  Both she and Austin play the guitar; Austin also plays drums and keyboard, and Ashley sings.  Ashley also made us very proud when she raised money for pediatric cancer by shaving her head.

We currently live in Louisville, Kentucky (that’s the Louisville skyline up there in my header).  For those not familiar with the area, Louisville and the surrounding towns are most well-known for the Louisville Bat company, the Kentucky Derby, bourbon trail, and creating the Hot Brown sandwich.

As a family we also enjoy local activities like the Louisville zoo, the Louisville Slugger museum, local restaurants, and numerous parks.  We also enjoy local day trips and family adventures to Maine, Florida, Tennessee, and beyond.

Growing up I loved both learning and writing.  This lead me to obtain B.A. degrees in both Secondary Education and English while attending college in Florida.  After college I returned to my home state of Maine and taught at a public high school.  I then took the opportunity to combine my love of education with my interest in business by becoming the Corporate Training Manager at a Fortune 500 company.

Never losing the love of writing, in 2010 I found a creative outlet in blogging.  Originally focused on sharing deals with friends and family (I have always been labeled the go-to person for finding the best sales) my goal has changed.  I now share inspiration for family fun and activities, recipes, DIY and crafts, local events, holidays, and entertainment.

Crispy Parmesan Potatoes Recipe from Views From the Ville

One of my highest-viewed (and family’s favorite) recipes: Crispy Parmesan Potatoes

In my spare time (does spare time exist when you have kids?) I love to sit and browse Pinterest.  I also like to watch Disney movies with Bubbles, try new things in the kitchen, and get a little crafty.

So pull up a chair, grab a cup of tea or coffee (make mine black, please, and extra-strong!), and check out our Views From the ‘Ville.  Be sure to see what’s going on over on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and my YouTube channel, too!

Don’t forget, if you’d like to contact me you can email me at info@viewsfromtheville.com  Thanks!
