Do you know what happens tomorrow?  The stellar hit Guardians of the Galaxy will be released to the cosmos on DVD and Blu-ray.  I’m especially excited because it’s the only Marvel movie we didn’t get a chance to see at the theater this year and I’m itching to be a little more in the know when it comes to Groot, the Star-Lord, and the rest of the group.

You too can #OwnTheGalaxy with Guardians of the Galaxy toys, soundtrack and DVD!

We may not have caught the movie yet but each of us already has a favorite part or line thanks to all of the trailers and teaser clips that have been shown.  Like the famous Dancing Groot.  Watching that led me to the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, also known as “Awesome Mix Vol. 1” (yep, a mixed tape.  Oh the awesome).  Listen to a few of those songs and you’ll have no problem understanding why Groot needed to get his groove on. Bubbles is very “girly girl”.  She loves sparkles and glitter, lip gloss and hair ties, skirts and ruffles and dolls and everything else you can think of.  But on the flip side of that coin she loves planes, trains and cars, bugs, and playing ball.

A bit before Halloween I ran across Monster 500 toys and showed them to Bubbles.  She got a huge kick out of the pictures and so when I was offered a few Monster 500 products to check out I knew she’d be excited.  Hubby was impressed as we unpacked the box, too, which is always a good sign.

Monster 500 Flattop Frank Large Vehicle

There are 10 different Monster 500 characters available in the 3-inch diecast vehicles.  Each comes with a trading card that has a code that unlocks a monster car in the Monster 500 Racing App.  Larger vehicles (4″ high and 5″ long) are also available in four monster choices: Zoom Zombie, CrocPot, Lead Foot, and Flattop Frank. With a majority of my formative years falling in what’s affectionately known just as “the 80s”, it should be no surprise that I love that era.  I mean, what’s not to love about the decade that brought us the music of both Bon Jovi and Paula Abdul (“Forever Your Girl” and “Livin’ On a Prayer?”  Aces.)

The Goldbergs

The Goldbergs Complete First Season now on DVD

Last year when The Goldbergs came out on TV, I was a little beside myself with joy.  I watch that show alternating between shouting “yes!” and laughing out loud, because I remember.  That striped shirt that Barry often wears?  I know people that wore that shirt (big props to the wardrobe folks, by the way). Back before Christmas I shared a really fun playset from Pinypon. The Ski Lodge and Snow Car were perfect for the winter months, letting Bubbles have some pretend snow play to match the season, especially on the days it was too cold to actually go out in the snow. Long after the weather has turned warm, she’s still played with it consistently.

Pinypon Aquapark Adventures Playset

We have been so pleased with all our products from Famosa that when they asked if we’d like to try the Pinypon Aquapark Adventures set, I definitely said yes. The quality and attention to detail that they pay with their products always makes them a home run. Continue reading »

I received Monopoly Empire and Transformers products in order to facilitate my review. All thoughts and words are my own.

I have long loved the board game Monopoly.  There were some serious marathons of the game in my house growing up, too.  My father has more patience than any person I’ve ever met and he would sit for hours upon hours and play with me, long after others had given up.

Monopoly Empire

Monopoly Empire Board Game from Hasbro

While the classic version will probably always be my favorite, we definitely are having fun with one of the newest iterations, Monopoly Empire.  In Monopoly Empire everything – the properties, the pieces, the cards – get a little shake-up with modern twists.  You won’t see a battleship or Board Walk, but you will see a Coca-Cola bottle and Samsung.
