Nearly everything my Gram cooked was homestyle and from scratch.  I know that a big part of that was growing up in a time where convenience foods weren’t readily available, but I also think she just enjoyed making her family something special.

These cheesy lasagna roll ups will have the entire family - even your kids! - asking for seconds. They freeze well, too.

My Mom did a lot of from-scratch cooking, too, but she also used a few shortcuts and cooking hacks on occasion.  They let her speed the cooking process up on busy nights, without sacrificing the taste or flavor of the food. Continue reading »

I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for HoneyBaked Ham. I received a gift card to facilitate my shopping trip and to thank me for participating.

There are a lot of traditions that are created and celebrated around the holidays.  Growing up, Christmas Eve was always at my Great-Grandmother’s house, where we had the opportunity to see family that we didn’t otherwise see the entire year.  Later we moved to having Christmas Eve rotate between my Mom and my Aunt’s house, where everyone had the opportunity to nosh on an eclectic mix of foods from spicy chicken wings to lobster stew.

When I married my husband, I married into a new Christmas Eve tradition.  My in-laws always serve a HoneyBaked Ham on Christmas Eve, complete with Hawaiian-style rolls to make sandwiches, plus lots of sides and other appetizers.  Before that I had only heard of HoneyBaked Ham, as they weren’t readily available where I grew up in Maine.
