I’m always excited to attend the Macy’s Culinary Council events that take place at the Oxmoor Center here in Louisville.  There’s usually one that takes place right before the Derby so I’m able to get recipe inspiration for our Kentucky Derby party from the chefs that participate.

Quick & Easy Pecan Sandies Shortbread Cookies Recipe

This year celebrity Chefs Rick Bayless and Anthony Lamas will be in attendance sharing their favorite recipes for race day.  Recipes like Rick Bayless’ Pecan Sandies Shortbread which I recently made and am sharing below.  Thank you to Everywhere Agency and Macy’s for sponsoring this post. I am a member of the Everywhere Society and Everywhere has provided me with compensation for this post. However, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Last year I had the pleasure of attending the Macy’s Culinary Council Cooking Demo here in Louisville.  While there I interviewed Johnny Iuzzini and was able to watch as he whipped up some dessert magic.  I’m really excited to share that he’s returning to the Macy’s at Oxmoor Center again this year, and will be accompanied by Stephanie Izard (season 4 winner of Top Chef) and Louisville’s own Edward Lee.

Whether you’re a Louisville native or if you’re just in town for the Kentucky Derby, I’d love to have you join me at this year’s cooking demo!  In addition to seeing Johnny Iuzzini again, I’m kind of stoked that Stephanie Izard is going to be there.  Top Chef has been one of my favorite shows over the years, and she’ll be the third Top Chef contestant I’ll have the chance to meet. Growing up we didn’t have a Macy’s near where we lived. If we had, I’m sure that I would have loved taking my letter to Santa and mailing it to him in the big red mailboxes they have each year.

Writing a letter to Santa was a big deal in and of itself. It represented all your seasonal dreams and was one of the few chances you had to communicate with the Big Guy. If there had been the opportunity to follow that up by delivering your letter in such a special way, that would have been the icing on the cake.

I Believe! Merry Christmas! Meeting Santa in 2014.

I am a member of the Everywhere Society and Everywhere Agency has sponsored this post on Johnny Iuzzini and Macy’s. All thoughts and words are my own.

This past weekend was the Kentucky Derby, which is held right here in town. The Derby is a huge event in and of itself, but the entire city parties for at least a couple of weeks ahead of time. Celebrities roll in, charity events are held, and there are lots of associated things to do, also.

Chef Johnny Iuzzini, Macy's Culinary Council

So when I heard that one of the events would be a cooking demo at our local Macy’s, conducted by Johnny Iuzzini, one of their Culinary Council members, I was pretty excited.  When I found out that I’d also get a few minutes before the demo to interview him, I was even more excited.  I’ve been a fan of Chef Iuzzini’s work for quite a long time and I was interested to see what he would have to say. This Macy’s flower show event post is sponsored by Everywhere.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Last weekend Bubbles and I had the opportunity to spend some time at our local Macy’s at the Oxmoor Center Mall.  We often visit the mall on the weekends, but this Saturday we were there for something special.  Macy’s was celebrating the arrival of spring and spring fashion with their Flower Show Event with a Secret Garden theme.

Gorgeous Flower Displays at the Macy's Flower Show Event - Oxmoor Center

Bubbles loves pretty clothes as much, if not more, than any girl, so I knew she’d love seeing the fancy hats and beautiful looks for spring.  But aside from that, I also had heard that Macy’s was planning lots of fun little events for kiddos and adults alike. Continue reading »
