Dec 232014

One of my favorite yearly deals during December is the iTunes gift card sales.  Between iPhones, iPads, the Apple TV and other Apple products there are a lot of products for which you might want to download new content.  And if I can do it while saving money, well, sign me up.

This is a partnered post with Tatu Digital Media.

So as with holidays past right now you can instantly save $10 when you buy $50 in iTunes gift cards at Kroger (either 2 $25 gift cards or 1 $50 gift card).  This promotion runs through December 31st so you can pick some up today or tomorrow for stocking stuffers, then head back in after the holidays and pick up a few more as a New Year’s treat for yourself.

This orange poke cake #drinkTEN shop has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

Years ago I often had to travel for work for weeks at a time.  I was young and unmarried and thought living in a hotel and eating out a restaurant every night for up to 8 weeks straight was fun.  Traveling during the holidays, though, wasn’t quite as fun.  Fortunately my coworkers and trainees always went out of their way to make me feel welcome and to make the time special.

There’s one occasion that really stands out, though, and that’s the time when a girl in one of my classes made me a poke cake right before Thanksgiving.  I had never had a poke cake before, can you believe that?  I know they’re made all different ways, but this one had a favorite hard-to-find soda of mine poured over the top before covering it with a whipped topping.  It was a family recipe, but the girl was sweet enough to share it with me (I guess she didn’t worry about much recipe “competition” from Florida as they lived in Texas). This is a partnered post. All words and opinions are my own.

I’m kind of a fan of getting a good deal on something especially when it doesn’t cost me anything extra.  That’s why I love the Kroger Fuel Points Program.  I get significant savings on my gas bill just by doing my regular grocery shopping.

The program works like this:

  1. Shop at Kroger.
  2. When you’re checking out, have the cashier scan your free Kroger Plus Card (like a loyalty card).  You can also scan it yourself if you use the self check-out.
  3. For every $1 that you spend on groceries, you receive one point.  Gift cards (with a few exclusions) give you 2 points per dollar.
  4. Once you’ve reached 100 Fuel Points you’ll receive 10 cents off per gallon at the Kroger fuel pump and at participating Shell stations.
  5. Ready to buy gas?  Simply scan your Plus Card at the pump and it will ask you if you’d like to use your discount.  Depending on how many Fuel Points you have, you can save up to $1 per gallon at a Kroger pump (10 cent max at a Shell station).

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and All You, but all my opinions – and experiences with the angel hair pasta recipe – are my own. #lifeforless #pmedia

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m kind of crazy for magazines.  I like all kinds of magazines: women’s, cooking, home decor, decorating, DIY, parenting, family, photography, local, holiday, even some fashion.  When I shop I always take a few minutes to browse the magazine racks and aisle to see any covers that jump out at me or any new publications that interest me.

Recently I was shopping at Kroger and I had a bit of a magazine surprise.  I found a display of All You!  Previously All You had only been available on the newsstand at Walmart.  But now, happily, it’s at Kroger (and other stores, too, I hear).
