At the start of 2013 I shared with you my favorite Disney movies of 2012.  There were so many great new additions this past year that I wanted to share a 2013 Disney movies roundup with you.  All of these movies – listed in chronological order – are can’t-miss and if you didn’t catch them at the theater or pick up DVD copies yet, you should plan to for this year.

Oz the Great and Powerful

2013 Disney Movies: Free Printable Oz the Great and Powerful Activities & Games
A visually stunning movie, Oz the Great and Powerful provides you with information about the world of Oz with which you might not previously have been familiar.  The movie is more for adults than kids, but there are plenty of kid-friendly tie-ins for the movie, like the Oz Fashion Dolls.  And don’t forget to check out my post with Oz Party Ideas – I think an “Over the Rainbow” theme would be an awesome way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, too! My family was invited to a screening in order for me to write my Disney Frozen review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

From the moment I saw the first previews, I knew that Disney’s Frozen was going to be a big hit.  And after having had the opportunity to see it with my family a couple of weeks ago, I’m calling that it will soon become a classic.  The animation, the songs, the story – it all adds up to amazing.

This was the second movie we had taken Bubbles to see at the theater but this was the first one she was able to stay and watch until the end.  Even after sitting in the theater for about thirty minutes prior to the movie starting, she happily sat in her seat for the whole thing, turning away from the screen only occasionally to share a laugh with me.  I don’t know how I had forgotten that it was going to be in 3D, but she opted not to wear her glasses and still enjoyed it.

Disney Frozen Review

At it’s center, Disney’s Frozen is about the relationship between sisters.  Princesses and sisters Anna and Elsa have always been so close, playing and having fun in their family’s castle.  Elsa has a special gift, the ability to create things from snow and ice.  Often the sisters would sneak downstairs while their parents slept and skate, slid, and play with the snowman named Olaf that Elsa brought to life for them. There is a lot of exciting entertainment news in the world of Disney movies.  New DVD and Blu-ray releases, plus some just-announced new films and animated tales.  I’m especially excited for the new live-action Cinderella!

The Pirate Fairy

New Disney Movies: Zarina and James from The Pirate Fairy

New Disney Movies: Tink, Zarina and the Fairies from The Pirate Fairy

Disney’s The Pirate Fairy will release next year, and this is one about which I’m really excited.  We love Tink and the fairies, we love Jake and the Pirates, so combining pirates and fairies into one movie is going to be awesome.  It centers around Zarina and James, and as I have more information to share, I will definitely do so! Check out this week’s movie news! This summer and fall is going to be full of animated awesomeness (with a little live-action fun thrown in for good measure). There are also some more free printables for you to enjoy.

Frozen

Exciting Movie News: First Look at Disney's Frozen #DisneyFrozen

There’s finally a teaser trailer and first look images available from Disney’s upcoming Frozen!  I’m excited for this movie as it’s done by the studio that produced both Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph, two of my favorite more recent Disney films. Fearless optimist Anna sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter.

2013 Disney Movies

On New Year’s I posted a recap of my favorite Disney movies in 2012.  There were so many great ones!  Next year will be no different: the line-up of releases that fall under the Disney umbrella are spectacular!  As each movie gets closer I’ll have more updates for you about each and hopefully some reviews, too!

I honestly can’t pick which one I’m most excited about.  Monsters University, Iron Man 3, and Thor are probably my top choices: we love the Marvel franchise and Monsters, Inc. is one of my favorite Disney movies so I’m excited for this “prequel”.  But Saving Mr. Banks is high on my list, too, as I love Disney history and I’m interested in the story of how Mr. Walt Disney brought Mary Poppins to the big screen.

How do you choose just one??
