We received a copy of Henry Hugglemonster: Meet The Hugglemonsters in order to facilitate our review.  All thoughts and words are my own.

One of the newest additions to the Disney Junior line up is Henry Hugglemonster and his family.  If you’re not familiar with the TV show, no worries!  Today Henry Hugglemoster: Meet the Hugglemonsters is available on DVD so you can pick up a copy and watch seven double episodes all at once.

I knew Bubbles (and I) would like this show from the first time I saw an announcement commercial for it.  The theme song is one of those really catchy songs that gets in your head and keeps you humming.  The cheery “Hey, hey, hey it’s a Henry Hugglemonster kind of day” will stay with you long after the show has ended.

Thank you to Disney Junior for providing us with a copy of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Quest for the Crystal Mickey.  All opinions are 100% that of myself and Bubbles.

Bubbles as you probably know by now is, shall we say, a little mad for the mouse.  She could say Mickey and Minnie before she could say Austin and Ashley.  When we see commercials for visiting Walt Disney World on TV she stops, points, and says “It’s Mickey’s house!”  So when we recently had the opportunity the preview a copy of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Quest for the Crystal Mickey we were pretty excited, to say the least.

Thank you to Disney for providing us with a great Doc McStuffins DVD.

If you have a toddler the words “time for your checkup” probably cause involuntary humming and perhaps head-bobbing.  In fact, just thinking about those words right now has the Doc McStuffins theme song running through my head.  Bubbles is taking a nap right now, otherwise if she heard me hum it out loud, she’d be begging to watch the new Disney Junior “Time For Your Check Up” DVD (available today!).  That would be fine by me, because I have to admit to being quite the Doc fan, myself.

Disney Junior's Doc McStuffins "Time For Your Check Up" DVD

The new “Doc McStuffins: Time For Your Check Up” DVD has five episodes (though each episode is made up of two shorter episodes, so it’s really like 10) and has a run time of 120 minutes.  The episodes include:

  • Gulpy, Gulpy Gators! / One Note Wonder
  • Tea Party Tantrum / Blast Off!
  • Arcade Escapade / Starry, Starry Night
  • Bronto Boo-Boos / Brontosaurus Breath
  • Doctoring the Doc / Hot Pursuit

The Arcade Escapade / Starry, Starry Night episode is one we’ve seen a few times on TV and it’s one of my personal favorites.  In Arcade Escapade Doc visits and arcade and finds a toy giraffe named Gaby stuck in one of those “claw” machines.  She never gets chosen because she has a torn leg, so Doc and her stuffed pals figure out a way to help her.  It’s a great lesson on teamwork.  And in Starry, Starry Night a little star-gazing planned, but no one is able to see anything through the telescope.  Apparently Aurora, the telescope, is having some issues with blurry vision. Doc McStuffins: Friendship is the Best Medicine

Disney Junior’s Doc McStuffins

From the very first time that we took Bubbles to see her pediatrician (at age 1 week), she cried.  She cried when the nurse came in to get her measurements, she cried when the doctor came in to see her, cried while waiting for shots, and cried during the shots.  Crying didn’t really let up much until we were in the car and she realized that we weren’t going back in.

I thought it would end by her 1 year checkup, but it didn’t.  Nor did it end at 15 months, 18 months, or 21 months.  Yep.  Lots of tears, every time.  Each time the flow would grow shorter, but they were always there.

It was around her 21 month appointment that we discovered Doc McStuffins on Disney Junior.  I don’t remember exactly how we found it; we may have just been a little slow to change the channel after one of her other shows.  But from the start she showed a lot of interest.  If you’re not familiar with the show it centers around “Doc” McStuffins, a 6-year-old that is able to speak with toys and stuffed animals.  Her mom is a doctor of people and Doc has become a doctor of toys.  Along with Hallie the hippo, Stuffy the dragon, Lambie the (you guessed it) lamb and Chilly the snowman, she runs a clinic to fix any toy boo-boos that may arise.
