When it comes to dips, I don’t limit myself to just chips.  That’s not to say that I don’t love a good chip and dip, because I do.  But I also like to dip chicken strips, fries, onion rings, pizza, and if the sauce or dip is particular good, a spoon.

Hubby has been craving onion rings lately.  They’re not something I’ve ever made before, though my Mom made homemade ones frequently when I was a kid.  Instead, I just picked up a bag of Alexia Crispy Onion Rings when I was shopping at Walmart the other day.  Far easier and much less messy than homemade, for sure, something that has extra merit on game day when you’re trying to feed a crowd. You probably have already noticed me mentioning around here once or ten times that we like a good tailgate.  Whether it’s in the parking lot of our favorite stadium or in our own kitchen and living room, getting together over food to yell at the TV is an excellent pastime.

Bubbles’ birthday party is next weekend and I’ve been working on our menu.  Most of the party ideas I found earlier were for sweets and decor; only one of them was for something to go with the meal.  And while Minnie Oreo pops and cupcakes sound delicious, I think our guests might also like something savory.  Appetizers, dips, and finger sandwiches all came to mind as they’re usually easy to throw together and people can graze while they talk and hang out.

My husband makes a great cheesy sausage dip that we often have for family gatherings and tailgating but I thought maybe for this party we’d have something just a bit different.  I don’t want to serve my guests anything I haven’t tried before, though, so for the last few days I’ve been cooking up small batches of dip to sample.  One that I found that I like is the Pleasing Pizza Dip submitted by Jennifer Crsip to Gooseberry Patch’s new cookbook Slow Cooking All Year ‘Round.

We are no strangers to the Kraft Dressing aisle in the grocery store.  My husband tops his salad exclusively with Thousand Island dressing so every few trips I’m adding a bottle to our cart (sometimes I even surprise him with the Thousand Island with Bacon variety).  Growing up my Mom always had at least one open bottle of Catalina in the fridge at all times.  It definitely rubbed off on me as Catalina is the dressing I reach for most often.

Kraft Dressing is #AnythingDresssing: Horseradish Dip Recipe

A few weeks ago I noticed that Kraft had updated their labeling to read “Anything Dressing”.  At first I was a little confused by the change but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense.  We already had been using the Kraft dressings for more than just our salads.  We’ve used the honey mustard dressing as dip for chicken nuggets, many of the ranch dressings to dip our veggies, Italian dressing in pasta salads, just to name a few.
