Over the last few years I’ve shared a lot of tailgating and Big Game recipes with you all.  I married a football guy and he converted me to a football gal (though I do still like watching the commercials).  With the Big Game just around the corner I thought I’d share a little of what we’re working on this year.

Easy Game Day Appetizers and Party Ideas for the Big Game #PrepareToParty

When I entertain on game day I generally like to go cute but simple.  I want food my guests can enjoy without missing a play, so either something they can hold or something that they can snatch for a single bite before yelling at the TV (that does happen in other houses, right?). This Sunday is, of course, the Big Game.  And while many people tune in for football, some people turn in specifically for the great commercials that are always aired during the game.  They’re generally quite memorable and will be talked about for days, if not weeks, after they first air.

Once again Coca-Cola will be part of the action and I have a sneak peek at their Big Game ad!  Titled “Going All the Way” the commercial chronicles how a small, yet determined, high school football player earns his team’s confidence when he gets the game-time opportunity of a lifetime.  Most of the cast are Green Bay-area residents and Lambeau Field’s longtime groundskeeper gets a featured role.

When you have teenagers life can be a little unpredictable.  You never know when they’re going to call and say “Oh, by the way, I’m bringing five friends over to watch the games”.  And if you have teenagers – especially teen boys – you know that filling the pit they call a stomach isn’t easy.  Carrot sticks and pretzels aren’t going to go very far.  Fortunately we have a Walgreens just down the road – literally like a mile – that’s easy to pop into and grab last minute party supplies.
