This shop and my Tropical Smoothie recipe have been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. Opinions are mine, “how did my baby get so big?” back-to-school tears may also be yours. #BoostBackToSchool #CollectiveBias

Bubbles starts kindergarten this week!  She has asked every day for a week if it’s time to start yet, which with as often as we’ve had school kick-off events feels like it has.

This layered Tropical Smoothie recipe is delicious and refreshing, a great way to start any morning!

The big morning is actually on Wednesday and I’ve been planning ways to make it even more special.  I want a few fun touches, but I especially want it to start with a breakfast that will keep her full and satisfied until lunch.  Concentrating is hard enough when you’re a kid, a rumbling stomach just makes it harder. Thank you to Hamilton Beach for providing a Breakfast Sandwich Maker to make our back-to-school mornings run more smoothly. All thoughts and words are my own.

It can take a few days to settle into a new schedule once school goes back in session.  You may be tempted to skip breakfast for yourself, or the kids may say “oh, I’ll grab something at school” (who knows if they will) as they run out the door.  But as breakfast has been shown to help concentration during the school day, it’s important to resist the urge to add a few minutes to your day by ignoring breakfast.

For our family we keep our mornings on track with breakfast sandwiches.  In the past I purchased the frozen kind; lite for me, regular for everyone else.  While convenient they’re not exactly inexpensive plus you’re limited to just a few flavor combinations.  Then the folks at Hamilton Beach sent us their new Breakfast Sandwich Maker and our mornings got a lot more tasty.

I’m completely in love with this little machine.  Especially with it’s versatility.  It’s kind of like having a short-order cook that can provide you with a plethora of breakfast sandwich creations, satisfying whatever morning cravings you and your family have.  I also like how easy to clean and easy to use it is. French Toast and Pancake Recipes for Kids

It always seems that breakfast is one of those meals that is almost always the same.  Yogurt and a piece of toast, some scrambled eggs with a couple strips of bacon, pancakes, cereal – whatever it is, I feel like once we find something we enjoy that fills us up for the morning we tend to stick with it.  Habit and routine help us get our morning started and keep everyone on schedule.

Every once in awhile, though, it’s nice to break out of the rut and add in some new options.  On the weekends we have a bit more time and try things like different breakfast casseroles, omelets, Eggs Benedict, and things like that.  But during the week to help add variety, yet still get our picky eater to eat, we sometimes turn to frozen products to help speed up our prep.  And because breakfast for us is mostly about getting Bubbles to eat something I really like the “mini” frozen foods, like the new Aunt Jemima Lil’ Griddles.  They have mini pancakes, mini blueberry pancakes, and french toast sticks.
