Gift Wrapping Ideas For The Holidays

Magical Wrapping Ideas For Disney Princess Items #DisneyPrincessWMT

This weekend I picked up a few Disney Princess gifts to go under the tree for Bubbles.  They’re going to be really fun to play with but the boxes they come in are a bit oddly-shaped which can make it a challenge to wrap them.  Additionally as this is really the first Christmas that Bubbles has shown any interest in the holiday festivities I wanted to make the presentation of them as fun for her as possible.  As they are Disney gifts I thought it was appropriate to add a little Disney magic!

One of my favorite Disney experiences is the Beauty and the Beast stage show.  I love how the curtains draw back on the stage and the excitement begins.  That inspired me to create my own “reveal” packaging for the Fisher-Price Disney Princess Songs Palace. Continue reading »

Easter Crafts – DIY Easter Peeps Centerpiece

When I saw the Peeps Topiary on Pinterest (from the post at The Hungry Mouse), I knew I had to try one.  We’re hosting Easter brunch/lunch at our house again this year, and I thought it would be a great centerpiece for our table.  Plus it just looked fun to make!  And other than coloring eggs, I don’t always see a lot of Easter crafts, so it was nice to find something a little different to try.

DIY Easter Centerpieces: Peeps Topiary

To start, you’ll need the following items:

  • Two 6″ Styrofoam balls
  • 1 wooden dowel or stake (12″ long; 1″ thick if using a stake, at least 1/2″ wide if using a dowel)
  • Pointed toothpicks (not the flat kind)
  • 6″-7″ clay flower pot
  • 8 packages of Peeps (5 of the 1st color, 2 of the 2nd color, 1 of the 3rd color)
  • jelly beans
If you would like, you can start by painting your clay pot.  I like the terra cotta look, but if I were to paint it, I might choose white so the colors of the Peeps are still the focal point.  It’s totally up to you, though.
To assemble the topiary, start by cutting the bottom 1/3 of one Styrofoam ball off, and use a knife to shave down the sides.  (You can discard the remaining piece of Styrofoam or save it for a future project.)  You want to be able to fit it snugly into the bottom of your clay pot. Lenox

(Be sure to enter on the main giveaway post if you haven’t yet.)

One of the lovely items that I have in my CouponCabin giveaway prize pack is the Lenox Autumn Owl sculpture.  It is crafted of Lenox ivory fine china and 24 karat gold, and is 4″ tall.  Sitting next to a pumpkin on a little log with some leaves, it is a nice representation of fall.  Because it is done all in ivory it would fit in nicely with whatever decorating theme you have, now and for years to come.

The Autum Owl Figurine From Lenox
Lenox products are really very beautiful.  I remember when I was in junior high and would see the ads for hand-painted Lenox vases or their Christmas ornaments and I couldn’t wait until I was “grown up enough” to start purchasing their items.  I have a Pooh Bear figurine (similar to the one below, but my Pooh Bear has a red shirt and is eating from a honeypot) and a Mickey Mouse ornament.  I have a few others, as well, like a snowman ornament and a candy dish that were passed down to me.  Not only are Lenox pieces very collectible, they make a nice start to a tradition of family heirlooms.
