I am partnering with Dean’s Dairy during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to share their goal of generating resources for the fight against breast cancer here in Kentucky and Indiana.

Bubbles asked me the other day why she was seeing so much more pink around town.  Pink is one of her two favorite colors, so she definitely noticed the uptick in it’s usage.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, purchase Dean's Dairy's DairyPure Milk and they will make a donation for each gallon purchased

Since she’s only five I had a more vague conversation about Breast Cancer Awareness Month than I will when she’s a little older.  I told her that people are wearing and using pink to remind others about a disease that many people have. Continue reading »

This shop and my suggestions for preschool toys to donate has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BIGDeal #CollectiveBias

I’ve always felt it was important to teach Bubbles to have a kind and giving heart.  Small acts of kindness go a long way in this world, and I want her to think of others and not just herself.  I also want her to know the joy of brightening someone else’s day.

If you need ideas for preschool toys to donate, here are 5 great options!

As a family, we shop every year for gifts that we’ll donate to the various toy drives and angel trees in town.  Friends and family often comment that they would like to do something similar, but had two concerns in common.  One was the cost of giving during an already expensive time of year (and during an already tough economic climate) and the other was a lack of knowledge in what kids might like. I’ve always appreciated companies that support our military. My grandfather was a WWII vet and many family members are retired or current military. And when Austin decided to join the Army National Guard and become a paratrooper, my respect for groups that give back rose even more.

So I was really excited when Baskin-Robbins reached out and offered to partner on a post to share the news about their Veteran’s Day plans.  They have a few fun things planned for November 11th and I’m looking forward to stopping into our local Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop on Wednesday to participate. This post is in partnership with Giving Assistant. All thoughts are my own.

Shopping online has a lot of perks. There is, of course, the convenience factor. With all the rain we’ve been having lately (I’m starting to wonder if we should build an ark) it’s nice not to have to get drenched dashing in and out of multiple stores or the post office to buy and mail off gifts, or every time my husband decides he needs a new storage solution or tool for the garage.

Shopping with Giving Assistant lets you earn double cash back for yourself, plus choose to have some of your cash back donated to your favorite charity

Another nice perk, though, is the option to earn cash back. There are a number of cash back sites out there that I’ve used and was always happy to get a few cents or dollars here and there. Even 0.5-5% adds up over time and the checks or PayPal deposits I receive are always added to our savings as a little “extra”. Continue reading »

Thank you to Dr Pepper Snapple & The Motherhood for sponsoring this post on balance.

This year I’ve been trying to share with you tips and suggestions for finding balance, whether it’s through food choices, fitness, enjoying family time, or even carving out a little me time.  So when the folks at the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) asked if I’d sit in on a conference call to talk about balance, I had to say yes.

Let's Play Initiative from Dr Pepper Snapple Group - helping to build playgrounds and provide sporting equipment in partnership with KaBOOM! and Good Sports

DPS believes that healthy lives depend on balance, including balancing the calories you take in with the calories you expend.  Through innovation, R&D, and corporate social responsibility programs, they’re making a commitment to help make that balance easier to achieve. Continue reading »
