Watching Christmas and holiday movies is one of my favorite things to do during the holiday season. In fact as a tween and teen (okay, fine, and as a college kid) on Christmas Eve I would stay up as late as I could manage to keep my eyes open and watch them. Considering we opened gifts at 5 a.m. I think I even managed to pull a few all-nighters.
I have a few tried and true favorites that I have to watch every year: Elf, The Santa Clause, The Polar Express. I also like to check out new releases in the hopes of discovering a few new favorites each season.
2016 Holiday Movies
Here are a few new holiday movies that are out or coming out soon that will take you all the way through until Christmas. I’ve included a few affiliate links to help you find and add them to your own Christmas rotation.
Alpha and Omega: The Big Fureeze – If you loved the original Alpha and Omega movie I think this holiday adventure featuring Kate and Humphrey and their wolf pups (Stinky, Claudette, and Runt) will be a great choice. When Kate and Humphrey get lost in the woods and don’t return, their pups go searching for them, proving that neither snow, rival wolves, nor bears can keep their family separated during the holidays.
Shaun the Sheep: We Wish Ewe A Merry Christmas – Shaun the Sheep fans will enjoy these seven special Christmas episodes. From watching the farmyard friends decorate the farmhouse for the Farmer to the massive snowball fight, there are plenty of holiday farm antics to go around.
Power Rangers Dino Charge Hero – Bubbles was the Pink Dino Charge Ranger for Halloween this year so I thought she might enjoy this special Christmas edition DVD. There are four regular episodes plus the “Race to Rescue Christmas” special.
Kate & Mim-Mim: A Christmas Wish – Kate & Mim-Mim is a new Disney Junior show where 5-year-old Kate has adventures with her stuffed toy friends (like Mim-Mim, the stuffed bunny). This special Christmas DVD has two winter fun episodes plus the special extended version of the Christmas special. There’s also a Winter Wonderland music video.
Daniel’s Winter Wonderland – It’s a snowy day in the Neighborhood and Daniel Tiger can’t wait to play! In these four episodes Daniel learns about planning ahead, what to wear in the winter, and trying your best when something seems scary (like dancing in The Nutcracker ballet).
