One of my goals for 2015 is to rediscover my style. I remember in college when I had a closet full of strappy sundresses, a variety of cute sandals, and pretty sparkly jewelry with which to accessorize. Now my wardrobe mostly consists of jeans and t-shirts with the requisite pair of yoga pants tossed in, paired with flip flops.
Exciting stuff, I know.
One of the first places I want to start is with something I consider to be my main accessory, and that’s my cellphone. It’s something I have on me at all times, so why not make it as personal as possible? I already swap out the case on my current phone to match the season, but wouldn’t having an entire phone that’s customized just for you be awesome?
That’s now possible thanks to the new Moto X. Simply walk through the customization process on the MotoMaker site and you’ll be able to build yourself a fully personalized phone from Motorola. You can make choices for most every detail, including:
- Back color
- Front color
- Trim color
- Case
- Memory
- Engraving
We’re not talking just a couple of choices, either. The back of the phone has 17 colors to choose from, plus 4 genuine leather options sourced from Horween, 4 unique wood grains, and even a custom football texture available to select customers.
The frame is curved to fit comfortably in your hand and the screen has a 5.2″ HD display. Give it a name – any name! – and ask it questions like “what’s the weather?” Voice controls also extend to your favorite apps, working with Facebook, Twitter, Google Play Music, and Pandora. It’s even aware of where you are, like the car or office, and adjusts accordingly.
Oh, and they didn’t forget the camera. The Best Shot feature sounds like a lifesaver as it takes several photos both before and after you snap your picture, and then identifies the optimal shot for you. And when you’re on vacation or at a party (or a blogging conference!) it organizes the photos and offers up a highlight reel with options for music and special effects.
Now that’s what I call a smartphone.
You can get all this awesome technology at an equally awesome price – and I mean a good awesome. The Motorola Moto X is available for $99 with a 2-year contract (add $25 for the wood or leather options). No desire or need for a contract? No problem, you can pick up one solo for $499.
What options would you choose for the Motorola Moto X?
