When I was growing up if you would have told me that some day I would not have a landline phone, I wouldn’t have believed you. Even though I was an extremely early-adopter of cell phone technology – I’ve had a cellphone for nearly 20 years – I never thought they would replace landlines. And yet as cellular service has improved in quality and portability, I and many others have switched to using them exclusively.
While there are definite benefits to cutting the line and going cell-only, cost is not one of them. Especially with the addition of texting and data plans, the monthly cost for cell phones can be a significant portion of your budget. I’m always on the lookout for ways to keep that bill from getting out of control and recently I heard about a new one called Zact.
Zact works off the Sprint cellular and data networks, providing nationwide coverage for voice, texting, and data plans. You get to chose those plans à la carte, allowing you to get exactly what type of coverage you need. Here’s the really cool part for me: if you don’t happen to use all the services you’ve paid for, they will credit it back for you toward the next month’s bill. You can find out more about how Zact works by watching this video.
Because of their special credit-back perk, the average Zact plan costs only $22 per month. If you have a need for multiple phones, you can share the same texts, minutes, and data without paying hefty line fees. And you don’t have to worry about your kiddos using up all your text messages; you can set talk, text and data limits. You can even set curfews, set allowed or blocked contacts, and control which apps your child has access to.
Up until now you could only purchase Zact online. But now it’s available exclusively at Best Buy Mobile specialty stores. I love our local Best Buy Mobile store; it’s where I picked up a set of headphones a few months ago.
There are 414 stores nationwide, conveniently located in malls and shopping centers. i so need a new phone
This would be the perfect holiday gift for my husband. Thank you!
What a great idea! Phones are so expensive!
I’m on the Sprint network now, but I would like to move to this Zact plan. Its less expensive than what we have now. You’re so right when you say letting go of your home phone does not save you money because the mobile phone bills are HIGH.
I have heard the name Zact but never knew anything about it. Thanks for filling me in!
Wow – $22 a month is a great deal.
my neice is begging for a phone–this one looks pretty good–I’m going to have to tell my sister-in-law–thanks for the review
great deal. would love to get this for my son.
I love that more and more wireless companies are going to no contract!!
My mom and dad are wanting to get new phones and finally use smartphones! I will have to tell them about this!
I just started hearing about Zact, we are going to have to check it out! We have a Best Buy Mobile store in our mall!
I’ll have to check that out further. I’m so afraid to get rid of my landline. I want to but part of me says no.
You are right that many people are switching from landlines to exclusive use of cell phones. I think the price and portability makes things easier.
That’s the first I’ve heard of anyone being willing to credit back unused services. I do like that A LOT.
I definitely prefer to use a no contract service and have been doing so for years. I travel internationally a lot and don’t like to be lock in. With a phone service like Zact you can start and stop your service at anytime without the penalties you would incur using a contract service.
I have heard that quite a few people have been moving to pre-paid phones. Less commitment for a cheaper cost. I may actually look into one, after I am out of this contract.
Zact looks like a wonderful way to have less of a bill!
