Thank you to Hamilton Beach for providing a Breakfast Sandwich Maker to make our back-to-school mornings run more smoothly. All thoughts and words are my own.
It can take a few days to settle into a new schedule once school goes back in session. You may be tempted to skip breakfast for yourself, or the kids may say “oh, I’ll grab something at school” (who knows if they will) as they run out the door. But as breakfast has been shown to help concentration during the school day, it’s important to resist the urge to add a few minutes to your day by ignoring breakfast.
For our family we keep our mornings on track with breakfast sandwiches. In the past I purchased the frozen kind; lite for me, regular for everyone else. While convenient they’re not exactly inexpensive plus you’re limited to just a few flavor combinations. Then the folks at Hamilton Beach sent us their new Breakfast Sandwich Maker and our mornings got a lot more tasty.
I’m completely in love with this little machine. Especially with it’s versatility. It’s kind of like having a short-order cook that can provide you with a plethora of breakfast sandwich creations, satisfying whatever morning cravings you and your family have. I also like how easy to clean and easy to use it is.
There really are three steps to making a sandwich with the Breakfast Sandwich Maker:
- Preheat
- Fill
- Eat
See what I mean by easy? Just plug it in to start the preheating. While it warms up, assemble your ingredients. You’ll need a base (English muffin, biscuit, toast circles, etc.), your family’s favorite fillings (bacon, sausage, cheese, spreads, bell peppers, ham, etc.), and an egg. Once the light turns green, place your base in the bottom ring and top it with your fillings. Lower the next ring and add your egg into the tray; top with your other piece of “bread” and cook.
Turkey Sausage Pancake Sandwich
Most of the family has so far leaned towards a traditional breakfast sandwich: American cheese, a sausage patty, and an English muffin. One of my favorites so far, though, is a Turkey Sausage Pancake Sandwich.
- Place a frozen pancake (straight from the freezer) in the bottom ring.
- Top frozen pancake with a turkey sausage patty and a slice of cheese (cheddar is extra delicious).
- Lower ring and crack egg into cooking tray. Use a fork to pierce the yolk and wiggle it around to completely fill the ring.
- Cover egg with a second frozen pancake and close unit.
- Cook for 4 minutes, slide tray back, and serve.
- Add a side of apple slices for a complete morning meal.
I’ve also tried egg whites, white cheddar, bacon, and whole wheat English muffins, which was delicious. Hubby asked me to try and find some croissants that would fit, since those are some of his favorites. He’d like to try and recreate the breakfast sandwich we had the last time we were at Disney. And the kiddos are loving using waffles.
In addition to being quick and easy to make, I love that breakfast sandwiches are portable. No more excuse for not eating when you can carry a well-balanced, nutritious breakfast right in your hand! And if the kiddos get tired of the same combinations you can visit the Hamilton Beach website for breakfast sandwich ideas.
Thanks to the Hamilton Beach folks one lucky reader is going to win their own Breakfast Sandwich Maker! You can also purchase one from Amazon, Target, Kroger, Sears, or Kmart. Giveaway closed – congrats Jackie V!
