There are lots of good things coming to DVD and Blu-ray in the near future. Plus lots of free, fun movie-related activities, theater releases, and more. I cover them all in this week’s entertainment roundup.
Bears
Disneynature’s Bears will be the fifth release from Disney’s newest film label. It will open in theaters on April 18th, 2014 to celebrate Earth Day. Make plans to see it during opening week as Disneynature, via the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, will make a donation to the National Parks Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks. Check out the adorable bears in the clip below.
In an epic story of breathtaking scale, Disneynature’s new True Life Adventure “Bears” showcases a year in the life of a bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life’s most important lessons. Set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop teeming with life, their journey begins as winter comes to an end and the bears emerge from hibernation to face the bitter cold. The world outside is exciting—but risky—as the cubs’ playful descent down the mountain carries with it a looming threat of avalanches. As the season changes from spring to summer, the brown bears must work hard to find food—ultimately feasting at a plentiful salmon run—while staying safe from rival male bears and predators, including an ever-present wolf pack. “Bears” captures the fast-moving action and suspense of life in one of the planet’s last great wildernesses—Alaska!
Planes
Disney’s Planes is in theaters now! Whether your kiddos have seen it and are begging to see it again, or if they haven’t seen it but are anxious to, here are some new free printable activities to help sooth their Planes fever.
Mary Poppins 50th Anniversary Edition
Coinciding nicely with the upcoming release of the moving Saving Mr. Banks comes the 50th Anniversary Edition of Mary Poppins. This classic tale of a nanny, her two mischievous charges, and a fun-loving chimney sweep will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack on December 10th, 2013. Here’s a little clip from the film.
Peter Pan: Return to Neverland
For the first time ever, Peter Pan: Return to Neverland will be flying out of the Disney Vault and onto Blu-ray. On August 20th you’ll be able to experience all the thrilling action with digitally restored picture and spine-tingling high-definition sound. We’re working on building our Blu-ray library, so I’m always excited to see our Disney favorites available in this format.
Wendy’s very practical and no-nonsense daughter, Jane, begins the adventure of a lifetime when the infamous Captain Hook whisks her away to the enchanted island of Never Land. It’s up to Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys to help Jane believe in faith, trust and pixie dust. With the first-ever Lost Girl at his side, will Peter Pan finally defeat Hook and his swashbuckling band of pirates?
The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec
A few weeks ago I shared my review of The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec, an action-adventure movie that would kind of remind you of Indiana Jones. Check out some of the great photos from the movie in the slideshow below.
