Over 30 years ago Ocean Music produced The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection on VHS and it sold over a million copies! For an old-school VHS, those are pretty significant numbers. With newer technology, though, VCR players are nearly as rare in the home as a rotary telephone.
In order to allow current generations of toddlers and kids the opportunity to enjoy classic entertainment they now have made available The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection on both CD and DVD. Both the album and the DVD have 72 traditional nursery rhymes that combine for a running time of 60 minutes. The DVD is presented as a pop-up storybook where each nursery rhyme comes to life through live-action, puppets, stop-frame, and simple animation.
You’ll probably notice a number of nursery rhymes from your own childhood. I know I did! Old Mother Hubbard, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Hush-a-Bye Baby. You can see the complete list of 72 songs below.
Bubbles loves anything with music so nursery rhymes are right up her alley. Keep in mind, though, if you order this, the DVD is simply the 1982 VHS transposed over to DVD format. I’m not sure that it would appeal to older kids that are used to the more modern animation (that has a lot of sparkle! 3D! flash! special effects!) but young children would probably still enjoy it. The CD would be enjoyed by all ages; I know we’ll stash a copy in the car for Bubbles to listen to on road trips. She likes to make her stuffed animal friends dance to the music.
Both The Classic Nursery Rhyme Collection DVD and CD can be purchased from Amazon. And you can like them on Facebook to stay up to date on any news!

My little guy loves nursery rhymes. His dad reads & sings them to him every night before bed.
