2011 Holiday Gift Guide – Gifts For Him
One gift idea that fits almost anyone – especially those hard-to-shop-for guys on your list – is a gift basket. And you really can’t go wrong with a basket of snacks and other edible goodies.
Ballreich’s can provide you with a variety of gift baskets for men full of tasty snacks for a number of different occasions. They are a family-owned company that was founded in Tiffin, OH, in 1920 by Fred Ballreich and his wife Ethel. They called their chips “Marcelled”, which means wavy, after the popular ladies’ wavy hairstyle of the time.
You – or a lucky recipient, if you’re ordering as a gift – will get to sample a few different types of Marcelled chips in whatever gift basket you order. You could also have popcorn, pretzels, puffs, pork rinds and logo items, depending on which gift you choose. The gift basket that I received – the Special All Occasion Gift Basket – had the following items:
- 1 lb. bag of plain Marcelled chips (you can also choose “flat”)
- 1.5 oz bag of Bar-B-Que
- 1.5 oz bag of Salt & Vinegar
- 1.5 oz bag of Smokey Sweet Mesquite
- 1.5 oz bag of Sour Cream & Onion
- 1.5 oz bag of Cheese Popcorn
- 8 oz bag of Pretzel Rings
- 1.125 oz bag of Baked Regular chips
It all comes in your choice of a stripped or spots basket wrapped in a big cello bag. And even though something like chips could easily arrive all crunched up and broken that wasn’t the case. Everything was in perfect condition.
My hubby, who isn’t really even a “chip person”, loved the Sour Cream & Onion and deemed the plain Marcelled chips “perfect for dip”. My favorites were the Smokey Sweet Mesquite and the Salt & Vinegar; I also liked the pretzels. Hubby and I both thought the popcorn reminded us a lot of the bags of it that you used to get at high school sporting events – very nostalgic.
Where to Buy
You can purchase your own baskets – as well as logo merchandise, individual treats and chocolate-covered chips and pretzels (very tasty; we also received a small sample of those) – directly from Ballreich’s website. Basket prices start at a reasonable $15.
Want to Win?
Ballreich’s has generously offered to provide the same basket that I received to two lucky winners. Giveaway closed.
