Hot Brown Hot Dogs
 
Ingredients
  • Hot dogs
  • Hot dog buns
  • Fresh tomatoes, diced
  • 1½ T butter
  • 1½ T flour
  • 1½ cups milk
  • ⅛ tsp. ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup freshly grated Gruyere cheese
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Make the Mornay sauce:
  2. In a small saucepan melt butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour.
  3. Cook for two minutes over medium-low.
  4. Whisk in milk. Cook additional 2-3 minutes, whisking constantly.
  5. Remove from heat; add cheese, whisking until smooth.
  6. Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper and whisk.
  7. Pour sauce into a small squeeze bottle. Set aside.
  8. Dice fresh tomatoes. Set aside.
  9. Grill hot dogs to your personal preference.
  10. Place hot dog in bun and squeeze sauce over hot dog. Top with diced tomatoes and drizzle with small amount of additional sauce.
  11. Serve.
