Sweet and Sour Meatballs
 
Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 slices white bread, crumbled (approx. 1 cup breadcrumbs)
  • 2 T milk
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • For the sauce:
  • ½ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 T vinegar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup ketchup
Instructions
  1. Spray a 9x9 baking dish with cooking spray; set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 350.
  3. Mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, and salt and pepper.
  4. Form into meatballs.
  5. Heat 2 T of vegetable oil over medium heat.
  6. Working in batches, brown the meatballs in the oil (roughly 3-4 minutes).
  7. While the meatballs brown, heat a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
  8. Add Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, sugar, and ketchup to the saucepan; mix thoroughly.
  9. Heat the sauce to boiling, then turn off the heat.
  10. Add the browned meatballs to the sauce and gently mix until meatballs are completely coated.
  11. Pour meatballs into prepared dish and bake for 30 minutes.
