I’m sort of in love.
Or maybe affectionately addicted.
To a couple of beverages.
But oh – these aren’t just ANY beverages. They’re a couple of new drinks from V8 and oh my goodness, they are tasty.
I’ve been a fan of V8 drinks – especially the Fusion blends – for years now. I love that when you mix fruit and vegetable juices, you get a big bottle of yum. And because some days I didn’t always get a full serving of vegetables, especially, I liked that a glass of V8 could help make up the deficit.
New Drinks From V8
While at BlissDom, however, there were some lovely folks there with a sampling station of the new V8 V-Fusion Sparkling and V8 V-Fusion + Energy. I was interested right away in the + Energy drink: natural energy from green tea, B vitamins (someday I will finally get around to posting about why B12 is amazing), 50 calories, no fat, no added sugar, and a full serving of fruits and veggies. The Sparkling did make me pause for a second, as I’m not a huge fan of “sparkling” beverages. But as I hadn’t met a V8 drink that I didn’t care for, I put on a brave face and decided to try it, as well.
Delicious. Light. Fruity. And yes, sparkly. Those are the words that popped into my mind as soon as I tasted the V8 V-Fusion Sparkling. The + Energy was my second sample and I wasn’t disappointed. It was refreshing, not overpowering like a lot of energy drinks are (you know, how they make your eyes squint with the first sip). And they actually do give you some pep – BlissDom was a fun, fast-paced event and even with all the walking, I felt energized all day.
I liked both sets of drinks so much that I started looking for them in my local store almost as soon as I returned from the conference. It took a week or so but then the + Energy drinks started showing up at Kroger and Walmart. I picked up a 6-pack of the Pomegranate Blueberry (it also is available in Peach Mango) to see if they were as good as I remembered. They were. Now I drink one with my breakfast in the morning to give me a little energy to start the day, and I often have a second one in the afternoons.
I’ve had much less luck finding the Sparkling drinks in stores, and by “much less” I mean “none at all”. I will definitely keep looking, though; the Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade (it also is available in Tangerine Raspberry and Black Cherry Pomegranate) could become my “summer” drink once I find them. At only 60 calories per 8-ounce can, plus a combined full serving of fruits and veggies, it’s a healthy and refreshing choice.
