This week’s Pin Me! Pinterest Thursday theme – brought to you by myself and Matter of Cents – is April Showers Bring May Flowers.  We definitely had a spat of those April showers, especially towards the end of the month.  But the old rhyme rings true, as things are in full bloom here (including a rose bush that was hiding behind some of the landscaping that I didn’t know was there).

I realize that in order to supply florists that there must be flower “farms”, but to see one of those farms is kind of neat.  And tulips are one of my favorite flowers.

I also love lilacs.  In addition to being beautiful and coming in many shades, the scent of fresh lilacs just says “spring” to me.  We had lilac trees on our property when I was growing up, and I used to put arrangements together very similar to this one.

Multi-Colored Lilacs

Stargazer Lilies are probably my favorite lily (though I like Tiger ones, too).  The colors are so vibrant against the white edging.

A very pretty collection of container roses.

My gram has Bleeding Hearts like this one growing outside her kitchen window.  When I was a kid, I was kind of fascinated by a plant that grew in the shape of a heart.

My gram also grows dahlias.  Can you tell that my love of flowers was nurtured a little bit by spending time at my grandparents?  (And also that I miss my Gram?)

Purple Dahlia flowers

And last – but certainly not least – some pretty sunflowers.  Another of my faves, my father used to grow these as a border around our garden.  They were taller than I am (not a huge feat, I guess, considering I’m only 5’2″) and the heads were wide and bright.  I have a couple of favorite photos with family and friends lined up outside next to them.  I’ll have to see if I can find a copy and scan them to share with you.

I’m curious – what’s your favorite flower?
