I’ve never been much of a breakfast person which is kind of odd because I love breakfast foods. We do go to brunch once in awhile with my inlaws which I enjoy – and that may be the answer. You eat brunch much later than you normally would have breakfast. And while I’m by no means cranky in the a.m. I am also not what you might consider to be a morning person.
I’m not alone in the whole skipping breakfast thing, though. 58% of U.S. moms said they skip breakfast regularly.* And of those that do skip, 46% say they do so because they don’t have time to prepare or eat it. It’s not just moms: 57% of single adults also say their number one reason they don’t eat breakfast is because they don’t have time to get it ready.
I understand the no time aspect. I work full time and often have conference calls scheduled early in the morning. And as a wife and mom I find myself trying to ensure that my family is getting what they need and not always focusing enough effort on myself. When I first found out that I was pregnant, though, I knew it was important to get on a better eating schedule for Baby C’s sake. And because I am choosing to breastfeed for at least the first 6 months I’ve continued the trend. It’s still sometimes a challenge to find the time for something, though – especially something healthy.
Seneca Farms is attempting to make breakfast faster and easier to put together so that none of us have an excuse any longer for not having something nutritious to start the day. Just launched in April, Seneca Farms Oatmeal & Fruit takes only 45 seconds in the microwave and doesn’t even require milk or water: just peel the top back to vent, nuke, stir and eat. Seneca’s Oatmeal & Fruit has no trans fats or cholesterol, and is a great source of Vitamin C.
A1 gets up early in the morning for her summer job and being a Type 1 diabetic means skipping breakfast if you’re running late simply isn’t an option. So she loved the grab-and-go convenience of these. She also loved the taste, especially the Vanilla Peach flavor (it also comes in Apple Cinnamon; Cranberry Apple is coming soon). These are definitely something I can see keeping in the cupboard for a quick snack or the kiddos’ breakfast on-the-go.
